There was a zapfic prompt released a couple of days ago, which asks us to write a piece of fiction in 50 words using the prompt, radiation as our inspiration.

I thought it would be fun. Judging by the games I played, we'd be battling mutated animals and raiders.
The games were a lie. We never got a populated wasteland and civilizations crawling from the rubble.
It's just nothing. An empty place that even birds are afraid to sing in.
This was a fun one, and it gave me a chance to reference the Fallout games without actually saying it.
I think the idea of dystopian post-apocalyptic wasteland are kind of glorified in media, such as The Fallout Series, or Mad Max, but the reality of a post-apocalypse is terrifying. Rather than being filled with adventure, I'm sure the aftermath of one, would in fact be empty, and silent, with nothing but an eerie presence.
