--I long for a cigarette," exclaimed Juan as he turned over in bed. Next to him his wife was looking at him with a disgruntled look on her face as she asked.

--A cigarette? Is it serious, Juan, you still long for a cigarette after all we are going through?--Without being able to stop a tear from running down his cheek.

Juan was a family man who had been diagnosed with lung cancer, caused by his addiction to tobacco, and he was learning with his family that his respiratory problems were the result of a cancer that was slowly deteriorating his lungs.

--I told you many times Juan, but you never listen to me," the woman protested as she dried her face and looked out the window of the hospital room, "Now how do I tell the children? How do I tell them that their father has a terminal illness due to his addiction to cigarettes...?

"WARNING: Cigarette smoking has been found to be harmful to health" ....

How many times have we read or heard this warning, yet tobacco is one of the most widely consumed "legal drugs" despite the damage it can cause to the body.

Still, there are many people craving a cigarette, perhaps not realizing that this craving can have devastating consequences for an individual or perhaps an entire family.

So... Think very carefully before making this exclamation "I long for a cigarette" because with this you could be invoking death... Like this or clearer?

When we grow up and form a family, we must take care of our habits, improve our lifestyle and even change it, let's not only think about what can give us momentary "pleasure" such as exhaling a puff of smoke into the air.

Let's think that this simple fact compromises our health and harms the people around us (family) not only because of the "passive smoking", but also because we can leave a family without a father or mother.

Let me know what you think!
