Chapter II - The award

Homecoming

Mindy after that first meeting with Angeline said goodbye to her, returning to her house. When she arrived, her mind was clouded by so many shocks that the ghosts of her past and those of her mother and father had awakened in her. Opening the refrigerator to take a sip of water, she seemed to hear her father's voice again as he greeted him as he sat in the living room. Already now she thought she was going crazy, so she took a deep breath pondering everything her half-sister had told her.

To vent, she dialed her friend Amy's phone number to tell her everything that was happening to her, only that she asked her to please keep her the secret of not telling anyone.

When Amy answered the call, after greeting her in sobs that she did not understand what she wanted to say, she on the other side of the line told her to calm down so that she could not continue, she said:

"Amy, everything has been very followed, first about Richard who had that unexpected accident and now I find out about all the adventures that my father lived, about which I knew absolutely nothing. How do you want me to feel good?"

So her friend said to her:

"Well you should finish listening to your father's hidden story, maybe you can find pleasant surprises and it's not all as complicated as you imagine."

She accepting the advice of her friend, said goodbye to her and decided to go to sleep. Maybe in the morning she would see things differently.

Dawn

The first rays of the sun woke her that day, she felt as if she had not been able to calmly, in the dream a nightmare would not let her be calm, with the image of her father sailing in the sea in the middle of a storm, she was trying to help him but the boat continued its course at the expense of the rough surf. An upset stomach announced that she might have dizziness that day and her appetite disappear.

Recalling one of her mother's recipes, in the cupboard she took some cucumbers and prepared to make an infusion of cucumber wine, on other occasions, and this had worked for him and he hoped that recipe would improve her spirits.

After preparing it, she started to get ready to go to work, since she had to take the subway in the next half hour, she put the drink to cool in an insulating thermos and after preparing an express sandwich, she put everything in a box inside her bag and more lively went out.

Subway ride

When arriving at the station the car was already approaching, the rushing passengers crowded into the platform to try to enter quickly, she, overwhelmed with the pain of her stomach, ran a hand over her forehead, detecting that she had some fever, even so she continued towards your destination.

Once inside the car, an elderly man who was next to her recognized her and asked her about her father. She, without believing what she was hearing, said:

"He left me alone last year, he's with the angels"

The man taking her hand, consoled her saying:

"Thomas was a good friend to me, he always told me about you and how proud you were his daughter"

In that the speaker announced the next stop where she should stay. So she got up from the seat and saying goodbye to her father's friend, gave him a box of cookies in appreciation for his words.

The office

When she got to her work everyone had a surprise for her, when she arrived they began to applaud her, she not knowing what was happening blushed since she was not expecting all that.

The boss then began to inform her that she had now been promoted to a higher position and that she must travel abroad to take the training course that the company offered in order to successfully assume all the responsibilities that were to be assigned to her.

Unable to believe all that, she began to see the brightness of the light at the end of the tunnel. Previously they had spoken to her about the possibility of gaining that new position, but until that moment there was no illusion.

The boss of nowhere then offered everyone present some chocolate cakes accompanied by a coffee with milk. Seeing that she could not despise all that, she delicately took her portion and tried to eat it little by little. Everyone at that moment realized that something was happening to her, normally they knew that she was a cheerful and communicative woman, but that day she appeared as dull and without encouragement, also it seemed that the news had not pleased her.

All of them, however, saw each other in silence, since they did not wish that she could be bothered. So at the end of the breakfast time each one returned to their work station, she after meeting with her boss who had to give her the last instructions went out to the street where she was going to continue promoting the products of the franchise.

The street

When we got there, a light drizzle started so the passers-by began to walk hurriedly with their umbrellas, she took shelter at the roofed entrance of the shopping center and there she extended the portable table that she always had with her to make the demonstrations of the products.

Most of the people passed by her without paying attention to what she was offering, one of the options that she offered was the offer of a vacation trip for those people who registered in the program and bought the promotion. When an elderly couple saw her, they approached her to ask about how they could enter. Knowing how to compromise them, she began to explain the benefits of the product and how it could benefit her health and also by talking to other people they could also earn some additional money.

They being interested in it, decided to make a large order and fill out the registration form to be able to be representatives of the franchise. She at that time did not fit in if the joy she felt, she had already forgotten all the bad time that she had spent the last days, first with Richard and then with her father, without having noticed her stomach upset had diluted and felt more encouraged than ever.

Her new partners did not stop congratulating her as they had time trying to find a representative of that company since in a previous opportunity one of their neighbors had spoken wonders about the products. Now they only had to wait for the next day to arrive at their home address everything they had bought.

The call

After closing the business and firing her new affiliates, seeing that the weather was still getting worse, she decided to go home, picked up the table, put away all the products she had in the briefcase and went to the subway station.

At the moment of going down the escalator her cell phone rang, again a voice that was already known to her spoke, it was Angeline, she was asking how she was and she was asking when they could see each other again. She instantly remembered part of the conversation they had had, since she certainly had not had a very good time at the meeting.

So she tried to evade the question. Angeline again insisted that they should see each other, since she had not yet told her the best part of the story, she told her that she had every right to know the details of her father's life that he would always be naming her, Angeline insinuated that he could also leave her a substantial patrimony.

When Mindy heard the last words, her feminine curiosity was activated and she agreed to plan the meeting for the day after her workday ended, in the same place and at the same time of the first meeting.

When she finished talking to her, she realized that the wagon was about to close the doors, so she rushed in and there were surprisingly her new affiliates who were on their way to their homes.

When she saw them, she thought that perhaps they were the angels who had always asked God to help her. When they saw her, they kindly gave her a place next to them and then they continued talking animatedly for the joy of meeting again.

Upon arriving at her arrival terminal, she said goodbye to them seeing that they had really been a blessing for her that day, she had always been waiting for the universe to finish aligning in her favor since she had always struggled to succeed.
