Ukagha owns a large farm where he rears many birds. He does not have the money to do a block wall fence. Rather, he used livesticks and palmfronds to do the fencing. Ocassionally, he will notice a reduction in the number of the birds and even the eggs laid by them. This generally disturbs him.

Ukagha decided to be keeping vigil whenever he restocks his farm with fresh birds. That is always the time the birds usually reduce in numbers. On this fateful day, Ukagha almost missed his vigil because he had worked all day making mounds in preparation for planting his yam. He was tired and exhausted but as God will have it he summoned the courage and hit his poultry farm.

Just about some minutes past eleven he noticed some strange movement at the back of his poultry farm. Initially, he thought that he was dreaming. He meticulously wiped his eyes with his palms and looked intently at that direction. Behold, he saw a young man holding a touch lamp and peeping through the local fence he had made. He kept his cool and continued watching. After a while the youngman zipped through the local fence and made straight to the farm house where the birds are kept.

Soon, Ukagha started hearing some sound of a bird flapping its wings vigorously. He still remained where he was. After a while the youngman started retracing his way back to the same area of the local fence from whence he had come with a loaded jute bag.

Ukagha summoned full courage and raced after him, overpowered him and brought him down. Immediately, he raised an alarm that a thief had entered his farm. Soon his neighbours started trooping into his farm at that late hour. In a jiffey, the neighbourhood was aroused and a big crowd gathered in his farm to have a look at the nuctural visitor.

To the amazement of all, the nuctural thief turned out to be Ukagha's only son from his enstranged first wife. He was shocked to the marrow and became remorseful instead of being happy that the thief had been caught. Oh, God!!! If only the foolish boy had told him that he needs some chicken he would have given him. Why stealing from him then? He wondered aloud.
