Do you need a tripod or not ?

Question for today Do you need a tripod or not.

That depends on your own stability , and what you are planning to do .
Sometimes a beanbag can be more then enough, and sometimes you don't need that either.

Most of the time i work without a tripod even with 5* magnification.

If you want to do photo stacking you might want to use a tripod to avoid minor disturbances. If you like to know more about photo stacking have a look at @brianhphotos he made a manual for it.

This morning i started as usual without my tripod , and after taking all the pictures i went back inside to develop the photo's when i saw something on one of my images , (benefit of having a 32" monitor) ,slightly in front of the crab spider you see a green egg.

So i went back outside with my tripod due to heavy wind in the garden to try and get that egg captured.

you can see in the small video what wind does at 5* magnification :)

.
But in the end the result was a good image of the Chrysopidae Egg as you can see in the image below. [ this is the only photo made with tripod in this post ]

The tripod does help with static objects you set it up wait for the wind to go , and click. Wildlife however spiders , ants , flies are always on the move using a tripod doesn't make things easier for that most of the time.

A monopod might help for some people to get more stability.
