Splinterlands Art Contest Week 275 | Bila the Radiant

Hello Everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I want to share my entry for this week's art contest of Splinterlands. I started drawing this last year but got busy with school stuff and there goes the holidays. The card I made a fanart of was Bila the Radiant, a lone woman descended from the heights of Angel Summit.

Art Process:

I used this pin as my reference for the pose. At first, I couldn't draw the pose, I couldn't get the right proportion, or at least just something that I could be satisfied with so I decided to spend a couple of hours studying the dynamic anatomy of the torso muscles by Robert Marzullo. After I was satisfied with the pose I sketched the features of Bila and did the lineart to clean it up.

When I paint art that shows a body I love to paint it with grayscale first because it's more manageable for me, I can focus my brain cells on the contrast of the light and shadow not worrying about the colors of different parts. I also love putting textures and throwing lots of brushes into my art but make sure it follows a flow of direction so it will not look chaotic and mess up the whole image. I then added base colors over the grayscale and then changed the blending mode to Overlay. Each of those base colors is on different layers because I'll be adjusting each of them with the gradient map. Then I added more details, highlights, and reflections with color dodge and overlay blending modes.

And here is the result:
