Crypto moves at warp speed and I bet people have already forgotten about $SUSHI, the DeFi craze that swept the cryptosphere at the end of summer 2020 and ushered in the absurd foodcoins buffet.
I was deeply affected by the story of SUSHI, not because I lost money in it, but because I’m fascinated by human behavior. It seems that we all want a new shiny dream, something different, something that captures our imagination, and washes away the dull dreary days.
The SUSHI project was a delectable dream, and people ate it up. Even one of my good friends who I thought knew better bought SUSHI tokens. LOL. The sushi token’s value shot from $0.71 on Aug. 29 to $11.17 on Sept. 1, achieving a marketcap of more than $250 million in just a few days.
SushiSwap was known as the “vampire protocol” and was forked from Uniswap.
On Sept. 5, 2020, Chef Nomi announced he was leaving the project, taking about half of the SUSHI tokens, or $14 million USD. He was described as an exit scammer in the crypto world from that point on.
Then Chef Nomi returned all $14 million and walked away from the project on September 11, 2020. He wrote these on Twitter and will be remembered in this way:
