Me encontré con esas expresiones mientras leía sobre algunos temas científicos por curiosidad, concretamente sobre la entropía. Soy consciente de que son definiciones burdas y poco objetivas del concepto de entropía, pero esas frases despertaron mi creatividad para hacer este dibujo. Los bocetos y las ideas empezaron a finales del mes pasado y lo terminé esta semana. Lo dejé y lo retomé varias veces, hasta que me propuse terminarlo de una vez por todas. En este post les contaré un poco sobre esta pieza.

I came across those expressions while reading about some scientific topics just out of curiosity, specifically about entropy. I am aware that they are crude and not very objective definitions of the concept of entropy, but those phrases awakened my creativity to make this drawing. The sketches and ideas started late last month and I finally finished it this week. I put it down and picked it up again several times, until I decided to finish it once and for all. In this post I will tell you a little about this piece.
He mezclado el concepto de desorden con elementos grotescos y extraños, en los que se aprecian figuras humanoides con un doble sentido (que tiende un poco a lo obsceno, si se mira con atención). Están reordenadas de forma inverosímil, pero que es una posibilidad al fin y al cabo. Un extraño caos surrealista de elementos caricaturescos y colores vivos.
El trasfondo del concepto también se inspira en el inquietante caso de un asesino en serie y caníbal venezolano, detenido a finales de los 90. Era un vagabundo que vivía bajo un puente, donde también cocinaba a las víctimas que cazaba a sus alrededores. No comía mujeres porque decía que sabían a "flores".
La cuerda colgada con la letra k hace referencia a la ecuación de la entropía formulada por el físico Ludwig Boltzmann (dentro de la ecuación hay una constante k, llamada constante de Boltzmann). En su tumba está grabada su famosa fórmula de la entropía: "S = k log W"
En el dibujo también hay una especie de espiral logarítmica (muy común en los fenómenos de la naturaleza como el movimiento de los huracanes, las galaxias, etc.), aludiendo a ese "estado natural de las cosas". Comienza en las nalgas del torso sin brazos ni piernas tendido en el suelo, y termina en la banana pegada a la frente del rostro deformado de ojos amarillos (¿lo sigues?).
Proceso
Me gustaría decir que mis procesos creativos son sencillos y que las ideas llegan a través de métodos relativamente estándar. Pero no es así, tiendo a ser un poco divergente, y lo que les he comentado en líneas anteriores sobre cómo me inspiré con este dibujo es un claro ejemplo de ello. Pero una vez que la idea está clara, dejo que todo fluya en el trabajo de líneas del dibujo.
I mixed the concept of disorder with grotesque and strange elements, where you can notice humanoid figures with a double meaning (tending a bit to the obscene, if you look closely). They are rearranged in an unlikely way, but which is a possibility after all. A weird surreal chaos of cartoonish elements and vivid colors.
The background of the concept is also inspired by the disturbing case of a Venezuelan serial killer and cannibal, arrested in the late 90s. He was a vagrant who lived under a bridge, where he also cooked the victims he hunted in his surroundings. He did not eat women because he said they tasted like "flowers".
The hanging string with the letter k refers to the entropy equation formulated by the physicist Ludwig Boltzmann (within the equation there is a constant k, called Boltzmann's constant). On his grave is engraved his famous entropy formula: "S = k log W".
In the drawing there is also a kind of logarithmic spiral (very common in natural phenomena such as the movement of hurricanes, galaxies, etc.), alluding to that "natural state of things". It starts at the buttocks of the armless and legless torso lying on the ground, and ends at the banana stuck to the forehead of the deformed yellow-eyed face (do you follow?).
Process
I would like to say that my creative processes are simple and that ideas come through relatively standard methods. But that's not the case, I tend to be a bit divergent, and what I've told you in previous lines about how I got inspired with this drawing is a clear example of that. But once the idea is clear, I let it all flow into the line work of the drawing.
Ahora les muestro imágenes del proceso de coloreado. De acuerdo con este concepto de caos cromático, empecé a elegir los colores de forma semi-aleatoria, con la condición de que sean brillantes y llamativos. Aunque esto no es nada nuevo en mis dibujos.
Now I show you pictures of the coloring process. According to this concept of chromatic chaos, I started to choose the colors in a semi-random way, with the condition that they should be bright and striking. Although this is nothing new in my drawings.
Por supuesto, acabé añadiendo una capa de sombras y luces sobre los cuerpos y las formas, y también las manchas de colores en el fondo. Confieso que el fondo fue una de las cosas que más me costó pensar, ya que no me gustaba cómo quedaba. Al principio quería dibujar cuadrados de colores, luego se me ocurrió que se fundirían, hasta que finalmente llegué a la idea de las manchas de colores.
Of course, I ended up adding a layer of shadows and lights over the bodies and shapes, and also the colored spots in the background. I confess that the background was one of the things I had the hardest time thinking about, since I didn't like how it looked. At first I wanted to draw colored squares, then it occurred to me that they would merge, until I finally came to the idea of the colored spots.
Espero que lo disfruten amigos, creo que es el dibujo más elaborado que he presentado a la comunidad hasta ahora. También espero haberme explicado bien en este post sobre el concepto, para mí es un poco difícil hacerlo de forma escrita. No suelo decir que me gustan mis propios dibujos, pero a este en concreto le tengo cierto cariño.

I also hope I have explained myself well in this post about the concept, for me it is a bit difficult to do it in written form. I don't usually say I like my own drawings, but this one in particular I have a certain fondness for.
