Let's Take A Look At Vampire Hunter D

I'm kicking this final entry off with another classic (I think I'm starting to show my age) Vampire Hunter D.

Now this Anime is a work of beauty, from the stunning artwork style and the great setting that it takes place in.
I would describe it as a Transylvania horror-esque with a great mix of Sci-Fi that really makes it stand out for it's time as a unique setting.

The story is set 10,000 years in the futrue where monsters roam the lands freely and peiople live a fairly simple life. They do have some hi tech gear but it dosn't really show it being used a lot.
They do have cybernetic horses which are pretty cool and really add a good Sci-Fi feel to the movie.

Count Magnus Lee rules over the land and has done for a considerable amount of years. The people living in this land are fighting to stay alive and live another day. There is a hamlet that is plagued by monsters and a Doris Lang is the young girl living there gets bitten by Count Magnus Lee, his desire is to have her as his new toy.
She enlists the help of D, the legendary Vampire Hunter who is a Dhampir that decides to help Doris and gets to work chopping up the Count's minions.

Year of release: 1985
Studio: Ashi Productions
Genre: Horror, Sci-Fi, Action, Supernatural.
Run time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Age rating: R+
My rating: 10/10
Does contain a bit of nudity but not very heavy on it so it's a great watch for most. There is a decent range of violence from what I would describe as tame to quite rough so be warned!

My favourite part about D is that he has a talking hand!

The music score is very fitting and at times sombre but really suits the film so well. A very beautiful score indeedy.

There is a reasonable amount of characters in the film, some do have some small issues with a lack of story depth but overall it is an enjoyable film, that does still stand well with its head high in the current generation of Anime.
