Buenos días, buenas tardes o buenas noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo están? ¿Cómo se encuentran el día de hoy? Espero que muy bien. Hace unos días volví a ver Wistoria junto a mi mamá; me pareció una historia de superación que fácilmente podría gustarle y no estuve para nada equivocado. Le conmovió el mensaje de la obra, donde el esfuerzo puede alcanzar al talento natural, solo hay que darlo todo por cumplir tus sueños (he de admitir que lloramos ambos por unas cuantas escenas, ya saben de dónde saqué mi lado sentimental, jajaja). Aunque volver a ver Wistoria tenía una doble intención: sabía que se estrenaba la segunda temporada y, así, refrescaba la memoria, además de que ustedes saben que si algo me gusta mucho, lo veo una y otra vez sin ningún problema. Desde ya quiero decir que quedé súper sorprendido por la calidad de la animación de Wistoria: si en la primera temporada era buenísima, acá en la segunda es espectacular. Estoy disfrutando todo esto como si fuera un niño. Así que sin más dilación, hablemos un poco acerca de la segunda temporada de Wistoria, específicamente de los primeros seis capítulos.
Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening, ladies and gentlemen. How are you? How are you doing today? I hope you’re very well. A few days ago I rewatched Wistoria with my mum; it struck me as a story of perseverance that could easily appeal to her, and I wasn’t wrong at all. The message of the show really moved her — the idea that hard work can catch up with natural talent, you’ve just got to give it your all to fulfil your dreams (I have to admit we both cried at a few scenes; now you know where I get my sentimental side from, hahaha). Although rewatching Wistoria had a double purpose: I knew the second season was coming out, so it was a way of refreshing my memory, and you all know that if I really like something, I’ll watch it again and again without a problem. I have to say right off the bat that I was super surprised by the quality of Wistoria’s animation: if the first season was great, this second one is spectacular. I’m enjoying all of this like a child. So without further ado, let’s talk a bit about the second season of Wistoria, specifically the first six episodes.

Esta segunda temporada tiene lugar unos meses después de los eventos de la primera temporada, donde vemos a Will estudiando y dándolo todo para dar los exámenes finales, para poder ingresar a la torre con el objeto de volver a ver a Elfaria. Evidentemente el destino no querrá que esto ocurra de forma fácil, por lo que tendrá que hacer muchos más méritos de lo necesario para poder tener dicha oportunidad. Sinceramente no quiero comentar mucho más acerca de la trama debido a que está en emisión y podría hacer un spoiler, pero podría decir que hasta ahora tenemos una historia con un ritmo bastante elevado, con muertes inesperadas y mucha acción de por medio; no te querrás despegar de la pantalla, e incluso vamos a tener varios momentos emotivos que te harán amar a cierto personaje, el cual en un principio quizás podría haberte caído mal, pero fácilmente ahora se habrá ganado tu respeto. Todos sabemos que Wistoria no tiene una gran propuesta (es una bastante reciclada, la verdad), pero la construcción de su mundo, los momentos épicos y los personajes secundarios tan característicos y entrañables hacen que sea una buena experiencia de visionado.
This second season takes place a few months after the events of the first season, where we see Will studying and giving his all to sit the final exams so he can enter the tower with the aim of seeing Elfaria again. Clearly, fate won’t make this easy, so he’ll have to go above and beyond what’s required to get that chance. I honestly don’t want to say much more about the plot because it’s still airing and I might drop a spoiler, but I can say that so far we have a story with a rather fast pace, unexpected deaths and loads of action; you won’t want to tear yourself away from the screen, and we’ll even get several emotional moments that will make you love a certain character who might not have made a great first impression, but by now they’ll easily have earned your respect. We all know Wistoria doesn’t have a groundbreaking premise (it’s quite a recycled one, truth be told), but its world-building, epic moments, and such distinctive and endearing side characters make it a really enjoyable viewing experience.

Un elemento que me ha gustado bastante en esta nueva temporada es el opening, que sin dudas supera con creces al primero y por goleada. Me encanta el significado de ser un soñador; encaja perfecto con la serie y el protagonista. Además, se ve demasiado fluido: se nota que usaron la técnica de la rotoscopia, una de mis favoritas desde tiempos inmemoriales. Es bastante adictivo y podría escucharlo a diario; podría decir que es de mis preferidos esta temporada de animes, en conjunto con el de Liar Game. También destaca demasiado la animación esta temporada. Mi hermana se fijó de inmediato al ver el primer capítulo, pero es que destaca demasiado; es muy fácil notarlo a la primera. Aunque todos sabemos que mantener tanta calidad no es muy sostenible en el tiempo (como pasó en algunos capítulos de la primera temporada), por ahora todo ha sido un espectáculo; no me puedo quejar en lo absoluto. Esta es mi recomendación número uno para alguien que quiera ver algo de acción con fantasía; no defraudará a nadie, cumplidor en todos sus aspectos. Si no lo has visto, te recomiendo que lo hagas, no te arrepentirás en lo absoluto. Sin nada más que decir, me despido por el día de hoy.
One element I’ve really liked in this new season is the opening, which without a doubt surpasses the first one by miles — and I mean by a landslide. I love its meaning of being a dreamer; it fits perfectly with the series and the main character. Plus, it looks incredibly fluid: you can tell they used rotoscoping, one of my favourite techniques from time immemorial. It’s quite addictive and I could listen to it every day; I’d say it’s one of my favourites this anime season, alongside Liar Game’s. The animation this season stands out enormously as well. My sister noticed it straight away when she watched the first episode, but it really does stand out — so easy to spot at first glance. Although we all know that maintaining such high quality isn’t very sustainable over time (as happened with a few episodes of the first season), so far everything has been a spectacle; I can’t complain at all. This is my number one recommendation for anyone wanting to watch some fantasy action; it won’t let anyone down — it delivers on every front. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend you do; you won’t regret it one bit. With nothing else to say, I’ll bid you farewell for today.
