After waiting for so many years, the new season of the Jojo's is here with us, a more bizarre adventure than ever. I've been waiting a few years for this one, as I watched the animation studio in charge keep on animating different anime and never announced the release of this one. Until mid-year when they made the big announcement, this time David Production teaming up with Netflix for a worldwide release. To the surprise of many, on the day of the premiere they released 12 episodes all at once, which will be aired one every week on Japanese TV, when that ends, they will proceed to release a new batch of episodes on Netflix, quite a weird system in my opinion but I guess it's better than waiting for one episode a week. I've already watched the first twelve chapters, I found them quite entertaining, although there are some questionable points in the quality, so without further ado let's start with the review of these first chapters.
Después de haber esperado durante tantos años, ya está aquí con nosotros, la nueva temporada de los Jojo's, una aventura más bizarra que nunca. Estuve esperando unos cuantos años esperando esto, mientras veía que el estudio de animación encargado se la pasaba animando diferentes animes y nunca anunciaba la salida de éste. Hasta que a mediados de año hicieron el gran anuncio, esta vez David Production trabajando en conjunto con Netflix para lograr un lanzamiento a nivel mundial. Para sorpresa de muchos, el día del estreno sacaron 12 capítulos de golpe, los cuales se irán transmitiendo uno cada semana en la televisión japonesa, cuando eso termine, según procederán a lanzar una nueva tanda de capítulos en Netflix, sistema bastante raro a mi parecer pero supongo que es mejor que estar esperando un capítulo a la semana. Yo como tal ya me he visto estos primeros doce capítulos, me han parecido bastante entretenidos, aunque hay algunos puntos dudosos en la calidad, así que sin más dilación comencemos con la reseña de estos primeros capítulos.

The story follows the adventures of Jolyne Cujoh, a girl who is wrongly accused of a crime she did not commit, and is sent to prison where she will have to face the strange things that will happen to her. This specific protagonist is the daughter of one of the most beloved characters of the whole saga, Jotaro Kujo, following the tradition of changing the protagonist in every season. During this part we meet for the first time an all-female cast, which so far is developing quite well, having a lot of chemistry between them. The plot feels much more dynamic than in previous instalments where the formula applied was to face a new enemy every chapter and defeat it, and so on, here at least we see chapters where the story develops and the characters interact with each other, besides obviously in some of them facing enemies, making everything quite organic and more digestible for the viewer, it is noticeable that the author has improved his formula over time. The script is not very complex and from one moment to the next it moves into action, but that's what makes it entertaining.
La historia nos narra las aventuras de Jolyne Cujoh, una chica que es acusada injustamente por un crimen que no cometió, siendo envíada a prisión donde tendrá que enfrentarse a las cosas extrañas que le ocurrirán. Esta protagonista en específico es la hija de uno de los personajes más queridos de toda la saga, Jotaro Kujo, siguiendo así la tradición de cambiar el protagonista en todas las temporadas. Durante esta parte nos encontremos por primera vez un elenco de mujeres, que hasta ahora se está desarrollando bastante bien, teniendo mucha química entre ellas. La trama se siente mucho más dinámica que en entregas anteriores donde la fórmula que aplicaban era cada capítulo enfrentar un enemigo nuevo y derrotarlo, y así sucesivamente, acá por lo menos vemos capítulos donde la historia se desarrolla y los personajes interactúan entre sí, además de obviamente en algunos enfrentarse a enemigos, haciendo que todo sea bastante orgánico y más digerible para el espectador, se nota que el autor ha sabido mejorar su fórmula con el pasar del tiempo. El guión no es bastante complejo y de un momento a otro se pasa a la acción, pero eso es lo que lo hace entretenido.

A fairly new and fresh feature implemented in this new season, is that the battles are not solved so much with blows but use intelligence to defeat the enemies, sometimes giving very convoluted solutions that may be difficult to understand, despite this I see it quite innovative, finally we see a protagonist who uses his brain instead of his fists, although you don't have to worry, the latter will be used on rare occasions from time to time, listening to the classic Ora ora ora, so there will be no shortage of classic action. As for the animation, we find something pretty decent, the colour palette and character design is pretty good but there are details such as the scenarios that are half-drawn, or the use of CGI that really mismatches a lot, it is too noticeable that it is not part of the animation, and look that I looked for opinions of other people on the internet and said it was not so noticeable, I say you have to be blind not to notice that the whole character is made in 3D. In reference to the soundtrack, the music that takes place during the series is pretty good, Jolyne's theme is very good although it doesn't even reach the heels of Giorno's, as for the opening it's pretty decent, highlighting the visuals instead of the music, visuals that are a clear reference to Jojo's part 3, where Jolyne's dad was the main character.
Una característica bastante nueva y fresca que implementan en esta nueva temporada, es que las batallas no se resuelven tanto con golpes sino que usan la inteligencia para vencer a los enemigos, dando a veces soluciones muy enrevesadas que quizás te cueste entender, a pesar de esto lo veo bastante innovador, por fin vemos un protagonista que usa el cerebro en vez de los puños, aunque no tienes de porqué preocuparte, éstos últimos serán usados en contadas ocasiones de vez en cuando, escuchándose a su vez el clásico Ora ora ora, así que tampoco faltará la acción clásica. En cuanto a la animación, nos encontremos con algo bastante decente, la paleta de colores y el diseño de personajes es bastante bueno pero hay detalles como los escenarios que están a medio dibujar, o el uso de CGI que de verdad desentona bastante, se nota demasiado que no forma parte de la animación, y mira que busqué opiniones de otra gente en internet y decía que no se notaba tanto, yo digo que debes estar ciego para no notar que todo el personaje está hecho en 3D. En referencia a la banda sonora, la música que transcurre durante la serie está bastante bien, el tema de Jolyne es muy bueno aunque no le llegue ni a los talones al de Giorno, en cuanto al opening está bastante decente, destacando a más no poder las visuales en vez de la música, visuales que son una clara referencia a la parte 3 de Jojo's, donde el papá de Jolyne era el protagonista.

In conclusion, these first twelve episodes are good enough to keep the viewer guessing as to what is going to happen, with decent animation and a decent soundtrack. Chapter 12 makes use of a cliffhanger, which will keep everyone on edge until the next episode packet comes out. If you haven't seen Jojo's before, I think you could watch this part just by watching the third, which will give you a basic understanding of the aspects of the series and who the big enemy is that they've been fighting for generations. This season has good storytelling, it all feels quite natural, something that has been seen in previous seasons but here, it has been improved to the extreme, it doesn't feel forced at all, all the battles have their reason and are not unnecessary filler, having learned from part 3, which is the most tedious of them all. Undoubtedly, we are before possibly the best part of Jojo's in terms of story and being possibly also the worst part in terms of animation, for being quite regular.
En conclusión, estos primeros doce episodios son lo suficientemente buenos para mantener al espectador con la espectativa de lo que va a pasar, contando con una animación y una banda sonora decentes. En el capítulo 12 se hace uso de un cliffhanger, el cual mantendrá en tensión a todos hasta que salga el siguiente paquete de capítulos. Si no haz visto Jojo's con anterioridad, creo que podrías verte esta parte con solo haberte visto la tercera, con la cual tendrás un conocimiento básico de los aspectos de la serie y quién es el gran enemigo por el cual se han estado enfrentando por generaciones. Esta temporada se nota con buena narrativa, sintiéndose todo bastante natural, cosa que se venía viendo en las temporadas anteriores pero que acá, ha sido mejorado al extremo, no se siente para nada forzado, todas las batallas tienen su razón y no son relleno innecesario, habiendo aprendido de la parte 3, que es la más tediosa de todas. Sin lugar a dudas, estamos antes posible la mejor parte de Jojo's en cuanto a historia y siendo posiblemente también la peor parte en cuanto a la animación, por ser bastante regular.
