Supposedly, I'm going to share this last Sunday, but due to some family emergencies and some deadlines that I need to catch up on; I almost forgot this one. Thankfully, I've got some free time today. This may be quite far from Wednesday—but better be almost late than never, right?
Anyway, for today, I'm going to share with you a time travel that happened in the world of The Case Study of Vanitas. This spin-off episode plot is kinda an extra after the Beast of Gevaudan arc. If you're not familiar with The Case Study of Vanitas, then this is definitely a sign for you to check this anime out. So without further delay, here's a brief plot summary of a time travel episode that most likely happened before the Beast of Gevaudan arc ended. Enjoy!
After curing the malnomen of Chloé, Vanitas thought that they would finally be free from Millie's malnomen, but it seems that his adventure doesn't end there. Before departing from the forest of Gevaudan, he stumbles on some random forest hole. He tried to climb his way up, but the hole was too deep for him. He desperately called for help, but no one answered.
Cursing his unluckiness, Vanitas slumped down and just waited for someone or anyone that could help him get out of the hole. Suddenly he heard crisp footsteps approaching, and since he was really desperate, he shouted for help incessantly. A small girl peeked, and he immediately asked her to help him. The small girl was surprisingly strong enough to pull him out, and the moment he saw the girls' face, Vanitas gasped. It was the little Jeanne!
Trapped in the fading close-off world of the past Gevaudan, Vanitas tries to figure out how he can go back to the present time. Together with the little Jeanne, he embarks on a day-long journey filled with discoveries and surprises. As his little journey in the past ends, Jeanne expresses her joy at meeting him. Blushing, she also confessed that she admired him, but Vanitas just laughed it out and said that someday they'll meet again—and in that time, she'll definitely be the woman he will admire.
While that enclosed world fades, the memories of that day slowly disappear from Jeanne's mind, leaving only Vanitas to reminisce that day.
