Hello friends of Hive, today I bring you a review about a manga that maybe many of you have heard or seen his character somewhere, especially if you like anime or sports manga. It is about Slam Dunk.
I got to know Slam Dunk thanks to a friend who insistently recommended the manga to me, although at first I was not attracted to reading sports manga as I thought it took away a certain emotion, like Blue Lock, which I watched the anime and did not feel the same as when I read the manga. However, this may vary depending on each person's preferences.

The story begins with our protagonist, Sakuragi, in love with a student from the same school as him. He wants to propose, but his friends bother him by telling him that he must break the record of how many girls have rejected him. Sakuragi gives them all a smackdown and lets them play pranks.
In an attempt to win the girl over, Sakuragi discovers that she loves basketball and decides to join the school team. But to get in, he must face the captain, who tells him that if he beats him or manages to score a basket, he can join the team. If he fails, he must forget about his dream. The captain realizes that Sakuragi has great basketball potential, Sakuragi fails to make the decisive basket and loses the chance to join the team.
Despite this, Sakuragi does not give up and hears that the captain admires people who have determination and perseverance to get what they want. So he starts cleaning the court and balls, and the captain decides to let him join the team, who happens to be the brother of the girl he likes. But it won't be easy for Sakuragi, as he joined the team for something superficial and now he has to learn the basics. In addition, he has a rival named Rukawa, nicknamed the star rookie, who is the complete opposite of him.

As the story progresses, Sakuragi becomes more serious about basketball, although his childish personality can be annoying at times. But it gets better as he gets serious and more characters are added, each with their own background and motivation to keep playing. There's also a healthy rivalry between the teammates.
At first I had a bit of trouble reading Slam Dunk due to the personality of the main character, which at times came across as too childish and heavy-handed. However, as the manga progresses, this improves while maintaining the essence of this character. I found the games interesting, with many epic and tense moments. At one point I wanted to compare the anime to the manga and found them to be quite similar. What I didn't like about the anime is that it doesn't emphasize the moves as much and doesn't draw as much attention as in the manga, where the focus on the moves is clearly noticeable.

Another thing that I didn't like so much was the ending, but it's not that I didn't think it was right, but as they are in the matches, they always talk about the great potential that Sakuragi has and how this will be a great player in the future. What to me seemed shoddy is that they don't show this Sakuragi in the end of the manga. One when reading so much that he will be a great player expects a small mention of how this one was later in time. But despite this, the last Slam Dunk game was something exceptional. I was always on edge reading it. How the characters were trying their best in each match really motivates you to keep reading more and more. I really found Slam Dunk quite interesting and you get hooked from the first game to see how each of the players feel every pressure of every basket. If you like sports manga, you should read Slam Dunk or watch the anime, although their animation is kind of old. But as far as I know, their last game was released on film.

Hola amigos de Hive, hoy les traigo una reseña sobre un manga que quizás muchos hayan escuchado o visto a su personaje en algún lugar, especialmente si les gustan los animes o mangas de deporte. Se trata de Slam Dunk.
Conocí Slam Dunk gracias a un amigo que me recomendó insistentemente el manga, aunque al principio no me llamaba la atención leer mangas de deporte ya que pensaba que le quitaba cierta emoción, como Blue Lock, que vi el anime y no sentí lo mismo que cuando leía el manga. Sin embargo, esto puede variar según las preferencias de cada persona.

La historia comienza con nuestro protagonista, Sakuragi, enamorado de una estudiante del mismo colegio que él. Él quiere declararse, pero sus amigos lo molestan diciéndole que debe romper el récord de cuántas chicas lo han rechazado. Sakuragi les da un golpe a todos y les deja hacer bromas.
Para intentar conquistar a la chica, Sakuragi descubre que a ella le encanta el baloncesto y decide unirse al equipo del colegio. Pero para entrar, debe enfrentarse al capitán, quien le dice que si lo derrota o logra marcar una canasta, podrá unirse al equipo. Si no lo logra, deberá olvidarse de su sueño. El capitán se da cuenta de que Sakuragi tiene un gran potencial para el baloncesto, Sakuragi no logra hacer la canasta decisiva y pierde la oportunidad de unirse al equipo.
A pesar de esto, Sakuragi no se rinde y escucha que el capitán admira a las personas que tienen determinación y perseverancia para conseguir lo que quieren. Así que comienza a limpiar la cancha y las pelotas, y el capitán decide dejarlo unirse al equipo, que casualmente es el hermano de la chica que le gusta. Pero no será fácil para Sakuragi, ya que entró al equipo por algo superficial y ahora debe aprender lo básico. Además, tiene un rival llamado Rukawa, apodado el novato estrella, que es todo lo contrario a él.

A medida que avanza la historia, Sakuragi se toma más en serio el baloncesto, aunque su personalidad infantil a veces puede resultar molesta. Pero mejora cuando se pone serio y se van añadiendo más personajes, cada uno con su trasfondo y motivación para seguir jugando. También hay una rivalidad sana entre los compañeros.
Al principio me costó un poco leer Slam Dunk debido a la personalidad del protagonista, que a veces resultaba demasiado infantil y pesado. Sin embargo, a medida que avanza el manga, esto mejora manteniendo la esencia de este personaje. Los partidos me parecieron interesantes, con muchos momentos épicos y de tensión. En un momento quise comparar el anime con el manga y encontré que son bastante parecidos. Lo que no me gustó del anime es que no hace tanto énfasis en las jugadas y no llama tanto la atención como en el manga, donde se nota claramente el enfoque en las jugadas.

Otra cosa que no me gustó tanto fue el final, pero no es que no me pareció correcto, sino que, a medida que están en los partidos, siempre hablan del gran potencial que tiene Sakuragi y cómo este será un gran jugador en el futuro. Lo que a mí me pareció chungo es que no muestran a este Sakuragi en el final del manga. Uno al leer tanto que será un gran jugador espera una pequeña mención de cómo este fue más adelante en el tiempo. Pero a pesar de esto, el último partido de Slam Dunk fue algo excepcional. Siempre estuve en tensión al leerlo. Cómo los personajes se esforzaban al máximo en cada partido realmente te motiva a seguir leyendo cada vez más. Slam Dunk realmente me pareció bastante interesante y uno se engancha desde el primer partido a ver cómo cada uno de los jugadores siente cada presión de cada canasta. Si te gustan los mangas de deporte, deberías leer Slam Dunk o ver el anime, aunque su animación es algo vieja. Pero por lo que sé, su último partido lo sacaron en película.
