I consider Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood a masterpiece. Personally, it is my favorite series. And if I only had to recommend one audiovisual work, it would be this one. No doubt about it.
Considero que Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood es una obra maestra. En lo personal, es mi serie preferida. Y si solo tuviera que recomendar una obra audiovisual, sería está. Sin Dudas.
This time I would like to share with you a top of my favorite scenes. The ones that moved me the most and/or that I liked the most. Needless to say that there ARE SPOILERS.
En esta oportunidad quisiera compartirles un top de mis escenas preferidas. Las que más me emocionaron y/o gustaron. Está de más decir que HAY SPOILERS.
🔹 5 🔹 Roy Mustang vs Lust/Lujuria (EP 19)
Roy had been seriously wounded by the Homunculus Lust. He was bleeding to death and looked like he was going to die. Later, the same homunculus is about to kill Alphonse and Riza. When all seemed lost Roy appears with the wound saturated to give us a fire show and kill Lust.
Roy había sido herido de gravedad por el Homúnculo Lujuria. Se estaba desangrando y parecía que iba a morir. Más tarde, el mismo homúnculo está por asesinar a Alphonse y Riza. Cuando todo parecía perdido aparece Roy con la herida saturada para darnos un espectáculo de fuego y matar a Lujuria.
I love this scene because we got to see the strength of Roy Mustang, who for me is the best supporting character of all. Because he went from bleeding out and on the verge of death to saturating his own wound and murdering an almost immortal being. In a stoic and incredible way.
Me encanta esta escena porque pudimos ver la fortaleza de Roy Mustang, el que para mí es el mejor personaje secundario de todos. Porque pasó de estar desangrándose y al borde de la muerte a saturar su propia herida y asesinar a un ser casi inmortal. De una manera estoica e increíble.
🔹 4 🔹 Edward vs Father (EP 62)
Alphonse sacrifices himself to save his brother. He gives up his body (which at the time was the armor) to return Ed's right arm. After seeing this, Edward explodes in anger and anguish. Causing a frenzy of attacks and blows towards Homunculus Father.
Alphonse se sacrifica para salvar a su hermano. Entrega su cuerpo (qué en ese entonces era la armadura) para devolverle el brazo derecho a Ed. Luego de ver esto, Edward estalla en ira y angustia. Causando un frenesí de ataques y golpes hacia el Homúnculo Father.
This scene is one of my favorites because it manages to show you a perfect combination of anger and anguish. It's also satisfying to see how the protagonist humiliates the being who wanted to be god.
Esta escena es de mis favoritas porque logra mostrarte una combinación perfecta entre ira y angustia. Aparte es satisfactorio ver como el protagonista humilla al ser que quería ser dios.
🔹 3 🔹 Edward rescues Alphonse (EP 63)
After defeating Father, Edward searches almost desperately to bring his brother back. Since he had sacrificed himself. After some thought, he decides to open the door of truth to look for him. Obviously, he has to offer something in return. Cleverly, it occurs to her to offer the door itself as an exchange. This allowed him to practice alchemy. Without almost thinking about it, he makes the sacrifice and manages to rescue his brother.
Luego de haber derrotado a Father, Edward busca de manera casi desesperada como traer devuelta a su hermano. Ya que se había sacrificado. This scene is wonderful because it surprises the viewer, including me. I really didn't expect such a clever move. And the best part is that after so many chapters, we get to see the brothers get their bodies back.
Esta escena es maravillosa porque sorprende al espectador, incluido a mí. Realmente, no me esperé esa jugada tan inteligente. Y lo mejor es que después de tantos capítulos, podemos ver a los hermanos recuperar sus cuerpos.
🔹 2 🔹 The death of Hohenheim / La muerte de Hohenheim (EP 63)
After defeating the homunculus, Father, Hohenheim decides to visit his wife's grave. He dedicates a few words to her. He makes a monologue that touches anyone. The scene ends when Pinako finds him sitting in front of the tombstone the next day. And she realizes that he died right there with a smile on his face. The opening song plays and the chapter ends.
Luego de derrotar al homúnculo, Father, Hohenheim decide visitar la tumba de su esposa. Le dedica unas palabras. Hace un monólogo que conmueve a cualquiera. La escena termina cuando Pinako al otro día lo encuentra sentado en frente de la lápida. Y se da cuenta de que murió ahí mismo con una sonrisa en el rostro. Suena la canción del opening y termina el capítulo.
For me it is impossible to remember or look at this scene without being moved. Seeing Hohenheim rest in peace after so many centuries, captivated me. Besides, those responsible for the series did a great job to convey those feelings.
Para mí es imposible recordar o mirar esta escena sin emocionarme. Ver a Hohenheim descansar en paz luego de tantos siglos, me cautivó. Aparte los responsables de la serie, hicieron un gran trabajo para poder transmitir esos sentimientos.
🔸 1 🔸 The promise of Edward / La promesa de Edward (EP 26)
After being swallowed by Gula, the group of Link, Envy and Edward look for a way to get out of her stomach. Ed comes up with the idea of using human transmutation to escape. When he finds himself at the door of truth, he realizes that he is not alone. Alphonse's body is also there. He tries to approach quickly, but the door opens and pulls him inside. When it looked like the scene and the chapter was over, Ed kicks the door open again. Only to promise Alphonse that he will come back for him.
Luego de haber sido tragados por Gula, el grupo de Link, Envidia y Edward, buscan la manera de poder salir de su estómago. A Ed se le ocurre la idea de utilizar la transmutación humana para poder escapar. Cuando se encuentra en la puerta de la verdad, se percata que no está solo. También está el cuerpo de Alphonse. Intenta acercarse rápidamente, pero la puerta se abre y lo tira hacia el interior. Cuando parecía que la escena y el capítulo terminaba, Ed de una patada vuelve a abrir la puerta. Solo para prometerle a Alphonse que volverá por él.
This scene simply makes my skin crawl every time I watch it. That moment where it shows a close-up of Ed raising his finger and making a promise while listening to the ending, it's fucking art. I love this scene so much that I'm going to tattoo the vignette on my arm.
Esta escena simplemente, me eriza la piel cada vez que la veo. Ese momento donde se muestra un primer plano de Ed levantando el dedo y haciendo una promesa mientras se escucha el ending, es arte puto. Me encanta tanto esta escena que me voy a tatuar la viñeta en el brazo.
