Ghost in the Shell is one of the best science fiction films not only in the anime scene but also in general terms since it served as a reference and influence on such successful films as The Matrix.
After the world has overcome a third world war and humanity has taken a dizzying turn in technology, section 9 is an anti-terrorist group fighting a cold war for the power of information. Post-humanity is now almost a fact, making implants, regenerators and various technological tools expand human capabilities, all based on the transhumanist philosophy, merging the machine with the human being.
Ghost in the Shell es una de las mejores películas de ciencia ficción no solo en el panorama de anime sino también en términos generales ya que sirvió como referente e influencia a películas tan exitosas como The Matrix.
Después de que el mundo se sobreponga a una tercera guerra mundial y la humanidad haya dado un giro vertiginoso en cuanto a la tecnología, la sección 9 es un grupo anti terrorista que lucha en una guerra fría por el poder de la información. La post humanidad es ya casi un hecho haciendo que implantes, regeneradores y diversas herramientas tecnológicas amplíen las capacidades del humano, todo esto tomando como base la filosofía transhumanista, fusionando la maquina con el ser humano.
Section 9 soon begins to suspect another section, section 6. This last section shows section 9 a hacker named Puppet Master which according to them was a biological organism previously, that is to say a human, but they raised his consciousness to an android allowing access to all the information that Puppet Master contained, well that's what they thought.
Puppet Master really belonged to the vast information network, possessing a vast amount of data and was created by and for section 6 to commit cyber crimes. Puppet Master decides to rebel against this organization and there the heart of the matter begins.
La sección 9 pronto empieza a sospechar de otra sección, la sección 6. Esta última sección les muestra a la sección 9 un hacker llamado Puppet Master el cual según ellos era un organismo biológico anteriormente, es decir un humano, pero ellos subieron su consciencia a un androide permitiendo acceder a toda la información que Puppet Master contenía, bueno eso es lo que ellos pensaban.
Puppet Master realmente pertenecía a la vasta red de información, poseyendo una cantidad vasta de datos y fue creado por y para la sección 6 para cometer ciber crímenes. Puppet Master decide rebelarse en contra de esta organización y allí empieza el meollo del asunto.
Throughout the course of the film we can observe an exceptional quality of graphic detail, remember that this film was made in 1995. The plot can be a bit overwhelming because it uses a jargon of the film that we must intuit, something very typical in the science fiction stories that do not undervalue the intellectual capacity of their viewers and leave us the keys so that we can enter the vast universe that these creators make.
The universe of Ghost In the Shell perfectly mixes spirituality with computation, since consciousness is taken as a spirit or Ghost and it is what really makes us living beings regardless of whether they are organic or made of silicon. The entire film raises philosophical dilemmas especially about the existentialism of Kusanagi who is in turn desperate to meet Puppet Master thinking that he may have the answers to these questions.
En todo el transcurso de la película podemos observar una calidad expecional de detalle gráfico, recordemos que esta película fue hecha en 1995. La trama puede ser un poco abrumadora porque usa una jerga propia de la película que nosotros debemos intuir, algo muy típico en las historias de ciencia ficción que no infra valoran la capacidad intelectual de sus espectadores y nos dejan las llaves para que nosotros podamos entrar en el vasto universo que estos creadores hacen.
El universo de Ghost In the Shell mezcla perfectamente la espititualidad con el computo, ya que la consciencia es tomada como un espíritu o Ghost y es lo que realmente nos hace seres vivos independientemente si son orgánicos o hechos de silicio. Toda la película plantea dilemas filosóficos en especial acerca del existencialismo de Kusanagi que se encuentra a su vez desesperada por conocer a Puppet Master pensando que el quizás tenga las respuestas a estas preguntas.
We are quite clear that we are living beings with an intellectual capacity superior to any other species on the planet and even clearer is that we know our own existence, thanks to our memories, memories and our sensory perception but a living organism not made up of what we are used to being DNA, it could ask constant questions about itself and its own existence.
Kusanagi is without a doubt my favorite character. The dialogue that Kusanagi has with Puppet Master is simply magnificent and finally many of his questions are answered. Even more impressive is when the Puppet Master asks him if he decides to merge with her, forming a single living being but with two layers, that is, not completely losing his individuality. In the end both bodies are destroyed by section 6 but before that they manage to fuse into Kusanagi's brain which could not be recovered by these criminals. Section 6 is partially discovered and his intentions revealed and Kusanagi remains low profile without anyone knowing of his existence but managing to access the vast network of information that Puppet Master possesses.
Nosotros tenemos bastante claro que somos seres vivos con una capacidad intelectual superior a cualquier otra especia en el planeta y aún más claro es que conocemos nuestra propia existencia, gracias a nuestros recuerdos, memorias y nuestra percepción sensorial pero un organismo viviente no conformado por lo que estamos acostumbrados que es el ADN, podría hacerse constantes preguntas acerca de sí mismo y de su propia existencia.
Kusanagi sin duda alguna es mi personaje favorito. El dialogo que Kusanagi tiene con Puppet Master es simplemente magnifico y finalmente muchas de sus preguntas son respondidas. Aún más impresionante es cuando Puppet Master le pregunta si decide fusionarse con ella conformando un ser viviente único pero con dos capas, es decir no perdiendo completamente su individualidad. Al final ambos cuerpos son destruidos por la sección 6 pero antes de eso ellos logran fusionarse en el cerebro de Kusanagi el cual no pudo ser recuperado por estos criminales. La sección 6 es parcialmente descubierta y sus intenciones reveladas y Kusanagi permanece bajo perfil sin que nadie sepa de su existencia pero logrando acceder a la vasta red de información que posee Puppet Master.
This film in turn has clear influences from Blade Runner, which for me was the first cyberpunk film of all time. Thanks to Ghost in the Shell, a milestone was created in the history of this genre, perfecting it and creating a much more complex plot. Of course I do not detract from Akira, but the latter has a more dystopian aspect while Ghost in the Shell tries to give a philosophical aspect to everything related to technology, that is, humanizing the world of machines, giving them the ability to have a soul.
We should not confuse the concept of soul or spirit in this film as something religious but rather as something too human, something that makes us what we are: Our consciousness.
Without a doubt, this anime cannot be missing in the collection of any lover of science fiction, thriller and films with a high philosophical content.
Esta película a su vez tiene claras influencias de Blade Runner que para mí fue la primera película cyberpunk de todos los tiempos. Gracias a Ghost in the Shell se creó un hito en la historia de este género, perfeccionándolo y creando una trama mucho más compleja. Por supuesto no le quito el mérito a Akira, pero esta última tiene un aspecto más enfocado en lo distopico mientras que Ghost in the Shell trata de darle un aspecto filosófico a todo lo relacionado con la tecnología, es decir humanizando el mundo de las maquinas, dándoles la capacidad de tener un alma.
No debemos confundir el concepto de alma o espíritu en esta película como algo religioso sino más bien como algo demasiado humano, algo que nos hace ser lo que somos: Nuestra consciencia.
Sin duda alguna este anime no puede faltar en la colección de cualquier amante de la ciencia ficción, del thriller y de películas con un alto contenido filosófico.
