Hello everyone, dear anime fans... I hope you are doing well today. This time I want to share with you a new review with my opinions about the anime Undead Murder Farce. The first thing I have to mention is that I like that a series manages to mix so many genres and cultural references so effectively... this anime has great features, has elements of mystery, action and comedy, all within a supernatural and detective context, and does it in a way that does not feel at all forced or chaotic. What's more, one of the aspects I enjoyed most about this series was the way in which each episode invites you to delve much deeper into the characters... and presents you with a very interesting world, but doesn't saturate you with unnecessary information or exaggerate in the details to give you more excitement.
The premise is quite creative and I find it interesting, the main character is Aya Rindo, who is an immortal detective who curiously is just a talking head, exactly, she has no body, since apparently someone stole her body. And although this might seem too strange or absurd an idea, I think that within a context full of superhuman or fantastic characters, it goes perfectly, I was surprised how well this whole context ended up working, and how Aya, despite her peculiar situation, is still a brilliant detective. Without a doubt she is one of the most interesting characters in this anime, her immortality adds a lot of intrigue to her personality, she has lived more than 900 years, and she has not lost her sense of humor, as the series progresses, we will get attached to her way of seeing the world and her way of solving cases.
Buenas a todos, queridos fanáticos del anime.. espero que se encuentran muy bien en el día de hoy. En esta ocasión les quiero compartir una nueva reseña con mis opiniones sobre el anime Undead Murder Farce. Lo primero que tengo que mencionar es que me gusta que una serie logre mezclar tantos géneros y referencias culturales de manera tan eficaz.. este anime tiene grandes rasgos, cuenta con elementos de misterio, acción y comedia, todo dentro de un contexto sobrenatural y detectivesco, y lo hace de una forma que no siente para nada forzada ni caótica. Es más, uno de los aspectos que más disfruté de esta serie fue la manera en la que cada episodio te invita a profundizar mucho más en los personajes.. y te presenta un mundo muy interesante, pero no te satura con información innecesaria o exagera en los detalles para dar más emoción.
La premisa es bastante creativa y me parece interesante, la protagonista es Aya Rindo, la cual es una detective inmortal que curiosamente es solo una cabeza parlante, exactamente, no tiene cuerpo, ya que al parecer alguien le robó su cuerpo. Y aunque esta podría parecer una idea demasiado extraña o absurda, creo que dentro de un contexto lleno de personajes superhumanos o fantásticos, va perfectamente, me sorprendió lo bien que acabó funcionando todo este contexto, y como Aya, a pesar de su peculiar situación, sigue siendo una detective brillante. Sin duda es de los personajes más interesantes que tiene este anime, su inmortalidad añade mucha intriga a su personalidad, ella ha vivido más de 900 años, y para nada ha perdido si sentido del humor, conforme avanza la serie, nos encariñaremos con su forma de ver el mundo y su manera de resolver los casos.
In this anime we will also meet Suguru, a character that at first glance seems to be the typical strong guy, but he has a pretty interesting background as well, related to his oni powers to fight, however, he is not simply a character that is there just to beat up, but, as I mentioned, he has quite a lot of depth in his character and his way of being. He's not just a mindless fighter, but his nature is quite strategic, and although he often comes across as quite busy, he actually has a lot of feelings and quite an interesting emotional context, which is revealed as the episodes progress.
I really like how his relationship with Aya is developing... these two characters complement each other naturally, and I find it very interesting that they didn't opt to do the classic brain and brawn dynamic, but something much more nuanced, where they both rely on each other's abilities to survive and advance their quest. The series is structured in small arcs, which gives it a particular rhythm, but which I didn't think was a bad thing, each arc has its own set of mysteries and characters that keep appearing, and although some are more interesting than others, in general they are all well constructed, spinning a main plot that develops little by little.
I really liked the arc that takes place in England, where the mystery revolves around a black diamond, that was my favorite, I think this arc is an amazing example of how the series can introduce many characters and factions, but make it not feel overwhelming at all... even though there are many characters on screen, the anime finds a way for each one to have their own little moment, and it's purposeful within this great story.
En este anime también conoceremos a Suguru, un personaje que a primera vista parece ser el típico tipo fuerte, pero tiene un trasfondo bastante interesante también, relacionado a sus poderes de oni para pelear, sin embargo, no es simplemente un personaje que está ahí solo para dar palizas, sino que, como les mencioné, tiene bastante profundidad en su carácter y en su forma de ser. No es un simple luchador sin cerebro, sino que su naturaleza es bastante estratégica, y aunque muchas veces se presenta como alguien bastante ocupado, realmente tiene muchos sentimientos y un contexto emocional bastante interesante, el cual se va revelando conforme avanzan los episodios.
Me gusta mucho cómo su relación con Aya se va desarrollando.. estos dos personajes se complementan de manera natural, y me parece muy interesante que no optaron por hacer la clásica dinámica de cerebro y músculo, sino algo mucho más matizado, donde ambos dependen de las habilidades del otro para sobrevivir y avanzar en su búsqueda. La serie está estructurada en pequeños arcos, lo que le da un ritmo particular, pero que no me pareció algo malo, cada arco tiene su propio conjunto de misterios y personajes que van apareciendo, y aunque algunos son más interesantes que otros, en general todos están bien construidos, hilando una trama principal que se va desarrollando poco a poco.
A mí me gustó mucho el arco que toma lugar en Inglaterra, donde el misterio gira en torno a un diamante negro, ese fue mi favorito, creo que este arco es un ejemplo increíble de cómo la serie puede introducir a muchos personajes y facciones, pero hacer que no se sienta nada abrumador.. a pesar de que hay muchos personajes en pantalla, el anime encuentra la manera de que cada uno tenga su pequeño momento, y es un propósito dentro de esta gran historia.
Something that I found very interesting is the large number of literary and cultural references that the anime includes, from characters like Sherlock Holmes to more obscure figures like Crowley. This series draws from the most gothic literature and 19th century European folklore to present you with some pretty funny, interesting and exciting characters and situations, if you are a fan of this kind of stories, you will surely recognize several winks... sometimes it feels like you are watching a kind of high level fanfiction, where the favorite historical and literary characters of many interact with the protagonists in a way that may not make the most sense in the world, but it is exciting anyway...
The artistic style of the series I also liked a lot, from the first episode it is clear that the animation studio put a lot of care in the details, the cool color palette with lots of blue and various shades, helps to create a gloomy and gothic atmosphere that fits perfectly with the tone of the story and in that there are some scenes that use CGI, especially in some beasts, these did not seem to me at all bad. In fact, I think the balance between CGI and traditional animation is well achieved as far as it goes... something that is very rare to see in other anime.
Algo que me pareció muy interesante es la gran cantidad de referencias literarias y culturales que el anime incluye, desde personajes como Sherlock Holmes hasta figuras más oscuras como Crowley. Esta serie se nutre de la literatura más gótica y el folclore europeo del siglo XIX para presentarte unos personajes y situaciones bastante divertidas, interesantes y emocionantes, si eres fan de este tipo de historias, seguramente reconocerás varios guiños.. a veces se siente como si estuvieras viendo una especie de fanfiction de alto nivel, donde los personajes históricos y literarios favoritos de muchos interactúan con los protagonistas de una manera que tal vez no tenga el mayor sentido del mundo, pero que igual es emocionante..
El estilo artístico de la serie también me gustó mucho, desde el primer episodio queda claro que el estudio de animación puso mucho cuidado en los detalles, la paleta de colores fríos con mucho azul y varias sombras, ayuda a crear una atmósfera sombría y gótica que encaja perfectamente con el tono de la historia y en que hay algunas escenas que utilizan CGI, especialmente en algunas bestias, estas no me parecieron del todo malas. De hecho, creo que el equilibrio entre el CGI y la animación tradicional está bien logrado dentro de lo que cabe.. algo que es muy raro de ver en otros animes.
As for the action, the fights, and all the exciting stuff, I was pleasantly surprised, because, although the main focus of the anime is not action, but mystery and solving detective cases, I found the fight scenes to be well choreographed and maintain a good level of intensity. They are not endless fights, but each of them seemed to me relevant enough to the plot so that it did not feel forced, I especially liked that the series does not abuse the invincible protagonist... although Suguru is strong, this is not indestructible, this serves to add good doses of tension, as at any time things can go really wrong.
In addition, I also liked how the series plays with moral ambiguity, there is no clear good or bad in this complicated world... all monsters are not simply villains, and humans are not always the heroes or the good guys. This is reflected in the cases that Aya is solving, where each character's motivations are influenced by their own culture, history, and different circumstances. I thought it was a very mature way of approaching the conflicts, and not simply identifying how the monsters were the bad guys because they were monsters... this gives a lot of depth to the narrative, they thought it through before developing these stories.
If I had to point out any weak points, it would be the last arc, the one that took place in the werewolf village...I felt it was a bit weaker compared to the previous ones, but that's not to say it was bad. I felt that some new characters didn't have the same strength or interesting charisma as the previous ones, this made me disconnect a little bit at some moments, but still, as I tell you, it didn't ruin the overall experience. This anime I totally recommend it, it has a unique mix that is nice to watch nowadays.... It has mystery, action, and many cultural references that make it stand out, among other titles, if you enjoy detective stories with supernatural touches, this anime is for you. I give it a solid 9/10. It's a series worth watching and I'm looking forward to its next season.... well, that would be all for today. I'll see you in the next reviews. Take care of yourselves. En cuanto a la acción, las peleas, y todo lo emocionante, me llevé una sorpresa agradable, ya que, si bien el enfoque principal del anime no es la acción, sino el misterio y la resolución de casos detectivescos, las escenas de combate me parecieron bien coreografiadas y mantienen un buen nivel de intensidad. No son peleas interminables, pero cada una de ellas me pareció lo suficientemente relevante para la trama para que no se sintiera forzado, me gustó especialmente que la serie no abusa del protagonista invencible.. aunque Suguru es fuerte, este no es indestructible, esto sirve para añadir buenas dosis de tensión, ya que en cualquier momento las cosas pueden salir realmente mal.
Además, también me gustó como la serie juega con la ambigüedad moral, no hay un claro bueno o malo en este mundo complicado.. todos los monstruos no son simplemente villanos, y los humanos no siempre son los héroes o los buenos. Esto se refleja en los casos que Aya va resolviendo, donde las motivaciones de cada personaje están influenciadas por su propia cultura, historia, y diferentes circunstancias. Me pareció una manera muy madura de abordar los conflictos, y no simplemente identificar como que los monstruos eran los malos por ser monstruos.. esto da mucha profundidad a la narrativa, lo pensaron bien antes de desarrollar estas historias.
Si tuviera que señalar algún punto débil, sería el último arco, el que tomó lugar en la aldea de los hombres lobos.. me pareció un poco más flojo en comparación con los anteriores, pero no es que sea malo. Yo sentí que algunos personajes nuevos no tenían la misma fuerza o el carisma interesante que los anteriores, esto hizo que me desconectara un poco en algunos momentos, pero aún así, como les digo, no arruinó la experiencia general. Este anime lo recomiendo totalmente, tiene una mezcla única que es agradable ver en la actualidad.. Tiene misterio, acción, y muchas referencias culturales que lo hacen destacar, entre otros títulos, si disfrutas de las historias detectivescas con toques sobrenaturales, este anime es para ti. Le doy un sólido 9/10. Es una serie que vale la pena ver y que estoy esperando con ansias su próxima temporada... bueno, eso sería todo por hoy. Nos veremos en las próximas reseñas. Cuídense mucho.
