Hello everyone dear friends of The Anime Realm community... I hope you are feeling great today. Today I come to tell you all about the journey that has been reliving the Dororo series... I watched this anime some time ago, but recently I watched it again with my girlfriend. And it really made me realize the tremendous quality it has... it made me want to do a review about it. This anime was released, as I told you, some time ago, it has about 24 episodes and the story takes us to feudal Japan, in the middle of the Sengoku era. A rather turbulent period, marked by civil wars and many famines... in this brutal context, we will meet Hyakkimaru. A young man whose body was offered to some 48 demons by his father, even before he was born, and then abandoned to fate... Many people gave him up for dead, but a doctor manages to rescue him, and somehow manages to save his life, replacing some of his parts...

Many years later, Hyakkimaru must undertake a journey to recover all the parts of his body, and as always he will have to defeat many demons to achieve this... On the way he will meet a little orphan boy who will become his companion in his adventures. The first thing that struck me about this anime was all the rawness with which this era is portrayed, I really like when a series does not beat around the bush when it comes to showing violence and the atrocities of war... There are some really shocking scenes that may even be hard to digest for some viewers.. but I feel that it is this realistic approach that gives so much strength to the narrative.. I think it really helps to better understand all the motivations of the characters, and I personally like it when an anime is raw and realistic!

Hoy les vengo a contar todo el viaje que ha sido revivir la serie de Dororo.. este anime lo vi hace algún tiempo, pero recientemente lo volví a ver con mi novia. Y realmente me hizo dar cuenta de la tremenda calidad que tiene.. me dieron ganas de hacer una reseña al respecto. Este anime se estrenó, como les había dicho, hace algún tiempo, tiene unos 24 episodios y la historia nos transporta al Japón feudal, en plena era Sengoku. Un periodo bastante turbulento, marcado por guerras civiles y muchas hambrunas.. en este contexto tan brutal, conoceremos a Hyakkimaru. Un joven cuyo cuerpo fue ofrecido a unos 48 demonios por su padre, incluso antes de nacer, para luego ser abandonado a la suerte.. Muchas personas lo dieron por muerto, pero un médico logra rescatarlo, y de alguna manera logra salvarle la vida, sustituyendo algunas de sus partes..

Muchos años después, Hyakkimaru deberá emprender un viaje para recuperar todas las partes de su cuerpo, y como siempre tendrá que derrotar a muchos demonios para conseguir esto.. En el camino se encontrará con un pequeño niño huérfano que se convertirá en su compañera de aventuras. Lo primero que me impactó de este anime fue toda la crudeza con la que se retrata esta época, realmente me gusta cuando una serie no se anda con rodeos a la hora de mostrar violencia y las atrocidades de la guerra.. Hay escenas realmente impactantes que incluso pueden resultar difíciles de digerir para algunos espectadores.. pero siento que es esta aproximación realista la que le da tanta fuerza a la narrativa.. Creo que ayuda mucho a comprender mejor todas las motivaciones de los personajes, y a mí personalmente me gusta que un anime sea crudo y realista!

I found the evolution of our protagonist fascinating.. we start with a character who can barely communicate and is just looking to get back what was unjustly taken away from him, but as he regains some of his senses and body parts, he also slowly develops his humanity.. I found it beautiful to see how he learns to relate to others and question his purpose beyond what is simple revenge. Dororo (the little boy he meets) brings all that tenderness and optimism to the story.. his energy and determination contrasts perfectly with Hyyakimaru's more gruff and apathetic nature. The dynamic between both characters is one of the strongest points of the anime, I really enjoyed seeing how their relationship evolves and we get some really touching moments...

I thought the animation was excellent, all the landscapes of feudal Japan are beautifully rendered, they have scenes with some muted colors, so nice that they reflect the gloomy atmosphere of the time. And of course, the action scenes are fluid and exciting, especially the confrontations against demons or some samurai battles... I really liked that the soundtrack also contributed its own, although it doesn't stand out too much, it fulfills its function when it comes to setting the scenes... it helps a lot to connect with the characters in some emotional moments that can surely make you cry. The opening is one of the undisputed gems of this anime, it mixes traditional Japanese elements with modern rock that perfectly captures the essence of the anime. Although both openings are good, I'll take my first one, it's simply spectacular. I love it!

La evolución de nuestro protagonista me pareció fascinante.. empezamos con un personaje que apenas puede comunicarse y que solo busca recuperar lo que se le fue injustamente arrebatado, pero conforme va recuperando algunos de sus sentidos y las partes de su cuerpo, también va desarrollando poco a poco su humanidad.. me pareció hermoso ver cómo aprende a relacionarse con los demás y a cuestionarse su propósito más allá de lo que es una simple venganza. Dororo (el chico pequeño que se encuentra) aporta todo ese toque de ternura y optimismo a la historia.. su energía y determinación contrastan perfectamente con la naturaleza más ruda y apática de Hyyakimaru. La dinámica entre ambos personajes es uno de los puntos más fuertes del anime, me gustó mucho ver cómo su relación va evolucionando y nos entregan algunos momentos realmente conmovedores..

La animación me pareció excelente, todos los paisajes del Japón feudal están bellamente representados, tienen escenas con unos colores apagados, tan lindos que reflejan la atmósfera sombría de la época. Y por supuesto, las escenas de acción son fluidas y emocionantes, especialmente los enfrentamientos contra los demonios o algunas batallas contra samuráis.. Me gustó mucho que también la banda sonara aportara lo suyo, aunque no destaca demasiado, cumple con su función a la hora de ambientar las escenas.. ayuda bastante a que pueda conectar con los personajes en algunos momentos emotivos que seguramente pueden hacerte llorar. El opening es de las joyas indiscutibles que tiene este anime, mezcla elementos tradicionales japoneses con un rock moderno que captura perfectamente la esencia del anime. Aunque los dos openings son buenos, me quedo con mi primero, es sencillamente espectacular. Me encanta!

Among some other very interesting aspects of this anime is how it handles all the themes such as the nature of good and evil, the price of power, and the search for identity, there are no completely good and bad characters, even the father of our protagonist who could be considered the main antagonist or the most evil of all, has motivations to some extent understandable, although clearly his actions are very despicable. The series also does a great job of showing the consequences of Hyakkimaru's actions, each demon he defeats takes away all prosperity from the region he was protecting. Which raises a rather interesting moral dilemma Is it fair for one individual to regain that which belongs to him at the cost of the suffering of many?

There are no really easy answers, and the anime doesn't try to give them to us, but rather invites us to reflect. However, I must admit that the pacing of the series sometimes felt uneven to me... there are episodes that feel a bit slow bordering on filler, and that disconnect too much from the main plot, especially reaching the middle of the season. Although these episodic stories in a way help to build the world and develop the characters, so it's not that bad at all, although it does feel a bit of a slowdown. But hey, it's something forgivable and it doesn't tarnish the great quality of this series.

Entre algunos otros aspectos muy interesantes de este anime es cómo maneja todos los temas como la naturaleza del bien y el mal, el precio del poder, y la búsqueda de la identidad, no hay personajes completamente buenos y malos, incluso el padre de nuestro protagonista que podría considerarse el antagonista principal o el más malo de todos, tiene unas motivaciones hasta cierto punto comprensibles, aunque claramente sus acciones son muy despreciables. La serie también hace un gran trabajo al mostrar las consecuencias de las acciones de Hyakkimaru, cada demonio que derrota quita toda la prosperidad a la región que protegía. Lo que plantea un dilema moral bastante interesante ¿Es justo que un individuo recupere aquello que le pertenece a costa del sufrimiento de muchos?

No hay respuestas realmente fáciles, y el anime no trata de dárnoslas, sino que nos invita a reflexionar. Sin embargo, debo admitir que el ritmo de la serie algunas veces me pareció irregular.. hay episodios que se sienten un poco lentos rozando el relleno, y que se desconectan demasiado de la trama principal, especialmente llegando a la mitad de la temporada. Aunque estas historias episódicas de cierta manera ayudan a construir el mundo y a desarrollar a los personajes, así que no es tan malo del todo, aunque sí se siente un poco el bajón de ritmo. Pero bueno, es algo perdonable y que para nada mancha la gran calidad que tiene esta serie.

The ending of this series left me with some mixed feelings. Without going into spoilers, I felt that some subplots were left unresolved... this I personally don't like at all. But they do manage to close the main arc, so to speak, in a coherent way, and in a way this is a big plus. I feel that Dororo is an experience that every anime fan should have.. it's intense and emotional, it has a combination of supernatural action, historical drama, and a lot of philosophical reflection. All of this makes it a unique anime that certainly deserves recognition.... It clearly has some ups and downs in terms of pacing, but if you're looking for a series that makes you think, moves you, and isn't afraid to show you the darker aspects of human nature along with some very decent action, this anime is certainly an excellent choice.

It's a powerful reminder of how this medium can be so great at telling deep and meaningful stories. I give it a rating of 8.5/10. It's a series that I certainly recommend, enjoyed watching and will probably watch again in the future. El final de esta serie me dejó con algunos sentimientos encontrados. Sin entrar en spoilers, sentí que algunas subtramas quedaron sin resolver.. esto a mí personalmente no me gusta del todo. Pero sí logran cerrar el arco principal, por así decirlo, de manera coherente, y de cierta manera esto es un gran punto a favor. Siento que Dororo es una experiencia que todo fan del anime debería tener.. es intensa y emotiva, tiene una combinación de acción sobrenatural, drama histórico, y mucha reflexión filosófica. Todo esto lo convierte en un anime único que sin duda merece reconocimiento.. Claramente tiene algunos altibajos en cuanto al ritmo, pero si buscas una serie que te haga pensar, que te conmueva, y que no tenga miedo de mostrarte los aspectos más oscuros de la naturaleza humana junto con una acción muy decente, este anime sin duda es una excelente elección.

Es un recordatorio poderoso de cómo este medio puede ser tan genial para contar historias profundas y significativas. Yo le doy una clasificación de 8.5/10. Es una serie que sin duda recomiendo, que disfrute viéndola y que probablemente en algún futuro vuelva a ver. Si te gustan los animes que van mucho más allá del mero entretenimiento, dale una oportunidad.. seguro no te arrepentirás.
