It's not the same to watch your favourite anime as a child, as it is when you're a few years older... Let's say, as a teenager. But, the funny thing about this subject that brings us together today in this post, is that I have re-watched the three most famous sagas of the entire Dragon Ball Universe. And yes, I'm obviously referring to Freezeer, Cell and Boo (Majin Boo). For me, the pinnacle of absolute evil. Between the three villains there are details, traits and little things that give the anime a majestic touch. But, I must clarify, this analysis comes from an ‘older’ person. A girl, in her 30's analysing the evil that we didn't used to perceive in Dragon Ball Z.

Lots of anime fans argue that Freezer is the most sublime in terms of villain construction. He doesn't seem very aggressive in appearance, he's methodical, patient; he rarely gets upset or raises his voice, and he wields power in a tyrannical way, almost like a reign of terror.... So powerful is he, that he allows the rumour of his true transformation to spread among his subordinates. Thus myths and legends are born, and his inherent evil grows. He is a subduer of worlds, but above all, a power junkie himself. Unscrupulous and with a penetrating and cold look; Freezer is undoubtedly a villain with an excellent development.

Frightened (He, Freezer) of one of the most important legends of all Dragon Ball Z, the mythical arrival of the Super Saiyayin, Freezer anticipates any possibility of danger and not only mercilessly destroys the home planet of one of his allies (Vegetta) but doesn't care in the slightest... With a smile on his face, he annihilates an entire race of warriors while experiencing pure pleasure. Freezer, to those who champion him as the best and most accomplished villain in all of anime and manga, is evil with intelligence and cruelty. He's the ‘kind’ face you don't expect to hurt you, but boy does he hurt you....

On the other hand, we have Cell. An ‘experiment’ that, in appearance, proceeds to have surpassed its own creator and purpose. It is the compilation of the Z Warriors' most famous abilities, but it is also the fear of what we don't know from a biological point of view. Freezer was a being, not human, certainly not with feelings, but he was flesh and blood? Cell, in his appearance too, but with the caveat that he was only born for destruction. He will use science, perverse and highly twisted demands, to once again succeed in destroying the hegemony that Goku and his warrior friends and protectors of Planet Earth maintain...

Cell learns from his mistakes, he has no mercy but no ego either. If he must retreat, he does, if he must employ the tactics and techniques of other warriors, he does so without hesitation. Thus, using his purpose but also his intellect, he uses and defeats Vegetta at a stage far superior to the one the villain possessed. Together with Trunks, he makes them use their powers in a stupid and predictable way and then accomplishes his goal. Merging with Android 17 and 18.... Cell's great merit, beyond how he was engineered, is his command of cunning and communication. He knows what to say and when to say it.

Besides, Cell's most terrifying characteristic is that being an Android, he is virtually impossible to defeat... Without a pulse, with a conscience and with evil in his eyes. He is the fear that we all have, the evil that lurks and waits for us. He doesn't wait to attack you at your weakest point, on the contrary, he challenges you and looks for you to show your best version. And if that wasn't enough, he has one of the best opening themes for a villain in living memory. I could swear, no matter what language is spoken in this community, each and every one of us would know Cell's theme. He is my favourite villain and the one I have appreciated the most in all phases of my existence.

Majin Boo is the construction of a series of unfortunate mistakes.... It doesn't matter how she gets to him, to Boo. Leaving behind his previous transformations and his physical and psychological changes....Boo has one notable but terrifying characteristic; in his eyes there is nothing but evil for evil's sake. It is the profile of a psychotic killer. Similar to Charles Manson. A villain who revels in destruction. He doesn't have a clear objective, he just doesn't run away from or feel conflicting sensations with his true cruel, powerful, miserable and cynical nature; he feels good. He's not a bad villain but I feel that his extreme evil phase was poorly exploited. Majin Boo (the fat one) gets most of the story and not so much the Boo, speechless, with eyes of contempt and cruelty, and a childish look... The truth is that these three are the holy trinity of Dragon Ball Z, the years will pass and we will still have them in our memories.
