Chess and My Performance at it

Chess is Life

If you know me well or a bit of me, I ensure you will be used to the fact that this happens to be my favorite quote when it comes to chess about life. I just love the way the quote says a lot with only a few words. When you look at it critically, you come to realize that it's all true. Chess is simply an imitation of life and what it entails. Take the pieces for example,

The King

symbolizes a leader of a kingdom, burdened with the responsibility of governing and staying safe to protect his kingdom through his wisdom.

The Queen

symbolizes the beautiful monarch staying side by side with the one she loves. Fighting the battles ahead and whatever comes her way. As they say in our society of today,

Women are powerful.

So it is in the world of chess.
She happens to be the one with the highest point and the ability to make the most move on the chessboard. Never should one understand the queen in life and especially on board.

The Rook

symbolizes the castle which is also another name it can be called. It serves the purpose of protecting the king most especially during the game.

The Bishop

symbolizes the priest responsible for putting his kinsmen and people of his kingdom into prayers, especially when at war with an opposing side. It can be quite daunting the kind of work he has to do but remember his power lies in the belief of the people in him. Never underestimate that.

The Knights

symbolize the warriors and not just any kind of warrior but a warrior with a special move. With its movement and tricks under its sleeves, it is easy to tell that the knight should be feared and kept an eye on. Do you remember those adventurous movies with men dressed in shining armor and admired by the maidens in the kingdom, well this happens to be this knight in the game of chess? It's admired by a lot of people because of its unique look, resembling that of a horse.
And last of them all

The Pawn

symbolizes the foot soldiers lined up in front and preparing for battle. They are bestowed with little value but when they get to the end of the war which happens to be another end of the chess board, they are rewarded with the laurel of promotion. It is just like a soldier awarded medals and other forms of laurels for fighting bravely in battle.

I remember how I always tell my kids during our chess classes about each piece and its function. Relating the king and queen to their daddies and mummies. Telling them everybody has their unique role and why they are important individually but stronger when united.

Being a Chess Instructor

It's not as easy as it sounds and it comes with its specs and difficulty but when you have a strong passion for it and just love the game, it becomes a lot easier to handle. I would say the biggest difficulty that comes with being a chess instructor is the practice of patience regularly. One has to know patience is everything and it's what you need the most when dealing with kids of different sizes and ages. It can be daunting and challenging when you lose their attention or find it hard to keep them disciplined and comported during class. Well, it comes with the job, and finding a fun way for them to learn is the solution.

Chess will forever be an integral part of my life, which is why it was a brainer that I participated in the Hive Chess tournament conducted by @stayoutoftherz.
Oh my, it was fun upon fun mixed with tension. Although the recent season has come to an end it was filled with different players. With the likes of @samostically, @wildthoughts, @kintokris, @schamangerbert,@sawkito, and many more. These chess players are cool and it was so much fun being a part of the community for this season.

Nonetheless, my best performance remains in round 9, where I finished 5th place, winning 7 games out of 9. Losing to only the big bosses in the game @sawkito and @tony1294.
My best game also remains the one with any where he wiped me silly. I know right, you would be expecting a game I won victoriously but well that is chess for you, we learn more from games we lose. Check out the screenshots below.
