Getting lucky with fierce opponents! (Hivechess Tournament S9R7)

2100+ bracket in S9R7 of Hivechess Tournament (Organized by @stayoutoftherz) had average rating of 2264, a tough battleground for sure.

The strategy was to play well without worrying much about opponents and not to resign, pushing for some luck, which of course I was able to get some.

Here are the games with key moments:

  • Game against @samostically (ZGM_Samostically) was a very sharp and tactical, with blunders from both sides,

    50. Rgxb4 was a blunder, can you spot a win for white ?!

It was a tough fight altough manged to escape in time!

  • Game against @kintokris (jonebellionfan) :

    20. Rxd8 which allows Nxh3+

I managed to get completely losing position after 37. Rxe4 (left) in this game, waited before resigning after which he made a blunder 40. b6 (right), which tactically wins for white.

Can you spot the continuation? (right)

  • Game against @eniolw, of course he played surgically well:

Can you spot the basic tactic for black after 8. Be3 which I missed.

  • Lost two of the games due to bad connection.

  • Game against @vjap55 was a win, who got unlucky berserking it:

Should white play Rxd1+ or not? (for starters)

  • Game against @tony1294 (2314) was a victory.
Key moment 26. Kg2, with attack coming on black king.

Black should have reacted earlier as 5 moves later king was running for life and got checkmated there. I really felt happy winning this game.

Overall I did well with 2294 performance in a tough bracket.

Regards :)
