OnChain Art Discord + New Promotion

OnChainArt_Announcement.jpg

Sup peeps, @midlet here.
So I went ahead and created a discord for OnChain Art You can get in with this link

https://discord.gg/9MCyKxP

I'm a discord noob, so I'll be figuring things out as I go. Currently the only channel is general, and announcements which only I can post for official announcements, but I'll add more as they become necessary. Feel free to drop in and say hello.

The next thing I want to announce is something I've been thinking about for a long time. I alluded to it in my #showcase-sunday post I just made recently but I'll reiterate it here.

There's a problem that you have as an artist here on Steem that I think we all have which is the 7 day payout window as well as poor discovery of your older posts. Not even poor discovery of your posts, but the fact that after 7 days, did your artwork suddenly become valueless? Is it now incapable of entertaining or inspiring or drawing eyeballs to Steem? No, of course not.

I see this as a design flaw in the system where it's poorly utilizing the value and resources that it has at its disposal. I hear a lot from people on Steem that there's not much good art on Steem. As someone who has been here for around three years and mostly looking at art I can tell you for certain that's not true. There's a ton of amazing artwork on Steem, you just have no way of finding it...until now.

Onchain Art Presents: The Steem Art Archives

In this early stage of Steem that we find ourselves in, things that large centralized apps have fancy algorithms to do, we on Steem have to sometimes do manually using good ol' human brain power and experience. Since I've been here for as long as I have, I know where a lot of the gems are. Starting today, this account @onchainart will be doing a weekly post in the Onchain Art community that showcases some long forgotten art from some of the many long forgotten artists. As well as ones that are still here.

For these posts, all the artists featured will be made the 100% beneficiaries of these posts. So if there is an artist that posted before and gave up on Steem, when they come back they'll have the nice surprise that their art has been earning them Steem while they were gone without them even doing anything.

If they never come back then any Steem that goes to them is effectively being burned because if they never come back, they'll never sell it.

For the OnChain Art Community, there are two benefits

  • This will populate the community with amazing art and make it a place that you can actually go to for consistent high quality content.
  • It will promote the community by helping us to rise in the ranks of all the other communities, giving participants more exposure.

All while rewarding the artists who deserve it.

Look out for the first #steemartarchives post sometime today.

That's all for now, make sure to follow @onchainart for all updates and showcases of the best art on Steem, and once again, jump into the discord and say hi.
