Flowered day to the beautiful community of Hive, some time ago, I made my presentation on the platform, today I wanted to bring you some of my plastic work, which I have mentioned but had not presented here for the simple reason that all these photos were already published in my social networks, and in my blogspot, so I want to do a recount, because soon I will be again performing and before sharing what is coming, I preferred to show where it came from.
I graduated from the Armando Reverón University Institute, now converted into UNEARTE, my practical specialization was Sculpture, and the theoretical Museography, but as times change, sculpture is no longer made with chisel and marble, but a large part of the creative process is based on using other materials, depending on the message we want to convey, then we can use plastics, fabrics, the body. I started using iron and electric welding for its elaboration, the first time I exhibited in an exhibition hall was with this piece, it was a chair, titled "Fellini's chair", because it resembles one of those film director's chairs, and because it is all agonizing and torn.
De esta pieza se desprende una serie de otras sillas, algunas mas grandes que yo, que elaboré bajo el nombre "La historia de las sillas", todas de hierro y agregando algunos elementos para darles un carácter lúdico.
From this piece a series of other chairs, some bigger than me, that I elaborated under the name "The history of the chairs", all of them made of iron and adding some elements to give them a playful character.

Luego me cansé del hierro, del pesado trabajo del hierro fundido, de los electrodos y demás materiales rígidos, que no solo no se puede trabajar sino en el taller, tampoco ofrece ese dinamismo que estaba buscando sin parar. Comencé a explorar con otros materiales, como el plástico, las telas, tejidos orgánicos y cualquier otro que me permitiera el uso del color y las transparencias, en este momento comencé a escribir el Manifiesto Roccocuchi.
Then I got tired of iron, the heavy work of cast iron, electrodes and other rigid materials, which not only can not be worked but in the workshop, it also does not offer that dynamism that I was looking for endlessly. I began to explore with other materials, such as plastic, fabrics, organic fabrics and any other that allowed me the use of color and transparencies, at this time I began to write the Roccocuchi Manifesto.
In a small space I had in my workshop, inspired by Armando Reverón I made this life-size doll (sitting leaning against the wall).

Estas piezas las realicé en tela de plástico cosidas con hilo de tejer, también pertenecen a una serie, llamada "Cartas de amor". Consta de dos lados, uno con una imagen o un objeto encontrado, por el otro lado una carta del tarot intervenida con algún verso de un poeta, recortadas y rehecho el poema con las frases del autor. Esta serie parte de una investigación sobre los materiales maleables, como el hijo, plástico, papel, y cualquier otro que le otorgara calidez y cercanía al trabajo realizado.
I made these pieces in plastic fabric sewn with knitting thread, they also belong to a series called "Love Letters". It consists of two sides, one with an image or a found object, on the other side a tarot card intervened with a verse of a poet, cut out and remade the poem with the author's phrases. This series is based on a research on malleable materials, such as son, plastic, paper, and any other that would give warmth and closeness to the work done.

Así que mientras exploraba con las telas, también pintaba, pero la pintura era solo para la venta, las exposiciones prefería imponer este estilo de arte encontrado, juego de niños.
So while I explored with canvases, I also painted, but the painting was only for sale, the exhibitions I preferred to impose this style of found art, child's play.
Esta pieza, llamada, La Guaira, estuvo en la primera exposición seria en la que participé, en el Museo Mario Abreu de Maracay en Venezuela, era un tapiz de plástico con objetos encontrados y encapsulados, cosido con hilo de tejer perlado, un homenaje a la tradición wayúu, de la cual me considero parte. Fue la primera vez que mis experimentos salían del taller.
This piece, called La Guaira, was in the first serious exhibition in which I participated, at the Mario Abreu Museum in Maracay, Venezuela. It was a plastic tapestry with found and encapsulated objects, sewn with pearl weaving thread, a tribute to the Wayúu tradition, of which I consider myself a part. It was the first time my experiments left the workshop.
Este jergón desnudo lo encontré llegando a casa, y quise hacer un homenaje al tradicional trabajo de las mujeres al tejer y bordar esos edredones y colchas con las historias de su familia. Así que hice este edredón con las bolsas de plástico vacías de la harina de maíz. Debajo tenía luces LED y resplandecía esta pieza en la exposición "Arte en juego" del Museo de Bellas Artes en Caracas.
I found this naked quilt coming home, and I wanted to pay homage to the traditional work of women weaving and embroidering those quilts and quilts with the stories of their family. So I made this quilt out of the empty plastic bags from the cornmeal. Underneath I had LED lights and glowed this piece in the exhibition "Arte en juego" at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas.
Con los avances en el proceso decidí hacer una obra autobiográfica y aquí di un salto al performance, con los borradores del manifiesto en la mano, donde habla firmemente de la necesidad de crear comunidad y hablar desde nuestra comunidad, la pieza en cuestión era un impermeable de plástico transparente con objetos encapsulados, como soy coleccionista, los objetos utilizados eran, precisamente, parte de mi colección mas íntima y personal. Para estos performances creé un personaje, "Ocseneba, la diosa de la lluvia", y con este performance me uní a un grupo de artistas plásticos, entre ellos mi gran amigo y hermano Lenin Rangel, para explorar las acciones, performance o happening como propuesta artística.
With the advances in the process I decided to make an autobiographical work and here I made a leap to performance, with the drafts of the manifesto in hand, where it speaks firmly of the need to create community and speak from our community, the piece in question was a transparent plastic raincoat with encapsulated objects, as I am a collector, the objects used were, precisely, part of my most intimate and personal collection. For these performances I created a character, "Ocseneba, the goddess of rain", and with this performance I joined a group of visual artists, among them my great friend and brother Lenin Rangel, to explore the actions, performance or happening as an artistic proposal.

Sin dejar de lado a mi primer amor (el hierro) seguía trabajando con él a la par de mi trabajo con las telas, una manera de acercarme a los materiales que conforman mi tierra, como el plástico derivado del petróleo y el hierro que mana del Macizo Guayanés.
Without leaving aside my first love (iron) I continued to work with it along with my work with fabrics, a way to get closer to the materials that make up my land, such as plastic derived from petroleum and the iron that flows from the Guiana Massif.

Nos invitan, a la Casa Roccocuchi, a presentarnos en el Festival de Arte Corporal en la Galería de Arte Nacional, es Caracas, acá cada uno de los integrantes presenta su propia colección, este festival tuvo como tema +Arte -Moda así que aproveché de sacar una línea de exploración conceptual en la que venía trabajando. Mi idea era hablar sobre como la indumentaria se apropia de las mujeres y crea rituales. En este performance, Ajuar de novia, hablo que ese rito del matrimonio, donde la sociedad te da permiso para aparearte después de consumada la ceremonia.
We were invited to Casa Roccocuchi, to present ourselves at the Festival de Arte Corporal at the Galería de Arte Nacional, in Caracas, here each of the members presented their own collection, this festival had the theme +Art - Fashion so I took the opportunity to take a line of conceptual exploration in which I had been working. My idea was to talk about how clothing appropriates women and creates rituals. In this performance, Ajuar de novia, I talk about the rite of marriage, where society gives you permission to mate after the ceremony is consummated.
Para este performance le pedí apoyo a mi hermana, en ese entonces estudiante de samba, y ella se vino con una compañera, y entre las dos hacía de pajes, mientras yo me casaba... con el arte. El vestido también lo hice y un pequeño tocado de canutillos y tul. Me interesaba mostrar el contraste entre las actitudes de las garotas y la ingenuidad de una mujer que se rinde ante el matrimonio. Esta vez las piezas no eran los importante, sino la acción, que pueden ver el video.
For this performance I asked my sister, at that time a samba student, for support, and she came with a classmate, and between the two of us we acted as pages, while I married... with art. I also made the dress and a small headdress of beads and tulle. I was interested in showing the contrast between the attitudes of the garotas and the naivety of a woman who surrenders to marriage. This time the pieces were not the important ones, but the action, which you can see in the video.
