Walking with a camera again

Wednesday Walk.png

I really miss my camera. No matter how good are modern smartphone, I see the difference. Or it just seems to me...

Anyway, I found out recently that I last used it in May! This should be rectified. So my hubby and I went for a photo walk at the Expocenter of Ukraine last Sunday, on the first day of fall.

The location we chose for a walk is very popular among locals but also pretty far. A huge green area with activities to all tastes. We last visited it with a guided tour a year ago, and I wrote a big post about it. Since then it has become even further. How is it possible? We used to get there by metro, it is fast, convenient, reliable. But in the tunnel of the branch leading to the expo center, a supersonic situation occurred at the beginning of this year. This section was completely closed for the duration of the repair, which should be completed soon. So for, getting there is more complicated.

This 12-meter media sculpture called the Kyiv Whale is made of recycled plastic. It should reflect the state of air pollution with the help of interactive lighting. But I didn't have a chance to check/see it because in summer it gets dark pretty late when the location is closing due to the curfew.

This yellow-blue car is a true London cab! I googled, and this seems to be the LTI TX2 cab. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Too late for performance. Oops.

And too late for the bicycle race as well. The award ceremony was about to end when we approached. There were so many participants!

Now on the streets of our cities, you can see young people with prosthetic arms or legs. Despite the peaceful picture, we constantly remember those who protect us.

I saw a cyclist with a prosthetic leg for the first time.

Rotunda and gilded spire of the main building of the exhibition center. It is closed for visits but we got there with a guided tour. The view from the high is worth it.

Ice arena. I doubt it works, even though the door is open. Due to the constant power outages, I don't think they have enough capacity to keep the ice.

Unlike mini golf which does not need electricity.

But it is not so popular here. Maybe itstime has not yet come.

Food Court

I remember in my childhood (it was still in the USSR), a popular, if not the only, place of leisure for the townspeople was the "park of culture and recreation".

There you always had 2 problems - where to eat and where to find a toilet. There were never enough of them, and you had to stand in a long line, and unmotivated sellers took things slowly...

DSC09274.jpg

Now we have plenty of both. All you need is to have money.

DSC09275.jpg

Look at the food, it looks very tempting. Now imagine smelling these aromas... We decided to come back later, but looking ahead, we bought more than we should have.πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜πŸ˜‹

Several events took place at the expo center at different spots. We came across several book publishers' exhibitions. Since we finally began to get rid of the Russian influence, a real cultural boom is taking place in Ukraine - music, theaters, and books.

Look who has joined the party! 😍 Little red squirrel.

You can ride a bike, or you can just hang out in a hammock in the Garden of Hammocks. I didn't spot a single free hammock!

Or you can rest in a bean bag chair, read a book, listen to a music, or chat with friends.

The total area of the expo center is 286.3 hectares, so it is not surprising that it has its own fire station.

Here! Track for radio-controlled car models. I fall in love with them at a glance.❀️ My husband wasn't very enthusiastic about my idea, but I intend to go back and try it someday.

There are many different sports locations here. Fields for football, volleyball, tennis, skateboards. There is also a horse riding school, and of course, rental of any equipment.
