Today is Cultural Day and a public holiday here. We're all at home. The children are also on a winter holiday this week. And, I suggested that we go somewhere together, but there's no interest from their side.
They each have their own plans for skiing, but they don't involve us anymore...
So my wife and I (and the dog) went for a walk alone. There is no snow in the valley, it only appears above 1000 meters above sea level, and today we are only looking at it from a distance.
Looking at the photos I took, you wouldn't believe it's winter. The meadows are dry, but also green, and the weather is sunny, a little breezy, and a little cold. Maybe autumn, or even early spring?
No, no, it's still real winter, with minus 10 degrees Celsius in the morning and somewhere up to 8 degrees plus in the afternoon.
Slowly, we arrived at our starting point, which is a road bridge over the river Reka. (Hence, in English, the name Reka means river, so that's a bridge over a river River...).
This Reka river may look more like one small stream, but it can also flood a whole valley.
I have two old photos here, taken four years ago, when the last big flood happened, and two people drowned...... you can read a post about the flood here.
At the moment, water levels are low this year, but that could all change in a month or so when spring starts and the rains come...
About 300 meters further is a railway bridge over which the Ljubljana - Rijeka line passes...

We will continue along the river as long as we can, and then we'll see if we can go back to the meadows or back the same way.
It's been a while since I used my phone to take photos of details. Maybe it's time to replace it, or buy a camera?
Here, it's already quite overgrown. Like a primeval forest. We're having a hard time getting through. Nothing is cleared, so it's untouched. It's a good place to film a scene in a thriller or a horror movie...
Finally, slowly out of this primeval forest, we can see the mountains in the distance again :)
Again, some details
I mustn't forget Atos, because on a walk like this, where you rarely meet anyone, we let him go and then he runs around to get a bit better.
A walk can certainly be a cure, or at least a kind of calming.
It doesn't solve problems, but it makes you feel better and makes it easier to accept everything that is happening to you.
