Wednesday Walk Around Town (Rouses Point, NY)

Yesterday we drove down to Plattsburgh for a play group, so we decided to stick around closer to home today. The weather was hot, but not unbearable. My daughter kept asking to go to the playground nearby, so we decided to walk through town and along the water on our way there.

We walked toward the downtown area and headed toward Lake Champlain. Our town is right on the border of the United States and Canada, so there are American and Canadian flags hung throughout town. The town is also named after a French-Canadian soldier. We walked to the waterfront pier, then on the sidewalk that runs along the lake. Our new town has a very scenic lookout area which makes for a pleasant walk. As we continued to walk along the lake and boatyard, we approached a beautiful view of the bridge to Vermont. We crossed the road and walked through the Veteran's Park, along the path toward the playground. To our surprise, the playground was closed off with caution tape. The area smelled of some sort of chemical; probably a wood treatment to protect the log playground from bad weather. My daughter was disappointed, but we were still able to play on the swings. On our walk home from the playground, we stopped at the dollar store to grab some candy. Check out the photos from our walk below.
