A few days ago I visited the city of Cienfuegos, where my nieces and nephews live. It was a short weekend but full of emotions, as we gathered to say goodbye to my niece, her husband and my great-niece, who are going on a trip and we wanted to wish them a good trip. We took the opportunity to walk around this beautiful city that always captivates me. I can't help but marvel at the cleanliness of its streets and its charming colonial and ancient aspect, admirably preserved. Hace unos días visité la ciudad de Cienfuegos, donde viven mis sobrinos. Fue un fin de semana corto pero lleno de emociones, ya que nos reunimos para despedir a mi sobrina, su esposo y mi sobrina nieta, que se van de viaje y quisimos desearles un buen viaje. Aprovechamos para pasear por esta preciosa ciudad que siempre me cautiva. No puedo dejar de maravillarme ante la limpieza de sus calles y su encantador aspecto colonial y antiguo, admirablemente conservado. Cienfuegos shares some similarities with Havana. For example, it has an extensive Prado that we always visit when we are in the city. This Prado, which crosses the city from one end to the other, is much longer than the one in Havana. Although it is a little sunny, it does not have much vegetation in some stretches, we cannot avoid stopping at the corner of 54th Street, former San Fernado Street (that is how it is known by the people of Cienfuegos), where the statue of Beny Moré is located. This figure represents the pride of the people of Cienfuegos and all Cubans, who for decades have venerated the cultural legacy left by this great artist. On this occasion, the whole family joined together for a photo in that emblematic place. Every time I go to this city I do it haha, when we approach it seems that we walk the road together.😊
Cienfuegos comparte algunas similitudes con La Habana. Por ejemplo, tiene un extenso Prado que siempre visitamos cuando estamos en la ciudad. Este Prado, que cruza la ciudad de punta a punta, es mucho más largo que el de La Habana. Aunque hace un poco de sol, no tiene mucha vegetación en algunos tramos, no podemos evitar detenernos en la esquina de la calle 54, antigua calle San Fernado (así la conocen los cienfuegueros), donde se encuentra la estatua de Beny Moré. Esta figura representa el orgullo de los cienfuegueros y de todos los cubanos, que durante décadas han venerado el legado cultural dejado por este gran artista. En esta ocasión, toda la familia se unió para una foto en ese emblemático lugar. Cada vez que voy a esta ciudad lo hago jaja, cuando nos acercamos parece que recorremos el camino juntos.😊
Right on that same corner is the Boulevard de Cienfuegos, which I have walked on many occasions. I am always surprised by the cleanliness and care with which the benches and plants are maintained along its length. In this occasion in one of its outdoor corners there was a flower sale. We walked along the boulevard and my little grandniece was protesting all the way because she was bothered by the sun, in the pictures you can see her annoyed face.😆😉
Justo en esa misma esquina, se encuentra el Boulevard de Cienfuegos, que he recorrido en muchas ocasiones. Siempre me sorprende la limpieza y el cuidado con el que se mantienen los bancos y las plantas a lo largo de su extensión. En el se encuentran diferentes tiendas, en esta ocación en una de sus esquinas al aire libre había una venta de flores. Caminamos el ese boulevar y mi pequeña sobrina nieta estuvo protestando todo el camino porque le molestaba el sol , en las fotos se ve su carita de molestia.😆😉
At the end of the Boulevard, we find a wide corridor adorned with identical and beautiful colonial lamps on its ceiling one after the other. To the right is the majestic Cienfuegos Cathedral, a dazzling construction with two steep domes that dates back to the 17th century and is part of the city's Historic Center.
Al final del Boulevard, nos encontramos con un amplio corredor adornado con lámparas coloniales idénticas y hermosas en su techo una detrás de otra. A la derecha se encuentra la majestuosa Catedral de Cienfuegos, una construcción deslumbrante con dos cúpulas empinadas que data del siglo XVII y forma parte del Centro Histórico de la ciudad.
Before returning home, we made a stop at the Meliá San Carlos Hotel to book a family dinner in the evening. It was a bit tricky to capture the building in its entirety due to its location on one of the narrow streets of the city. It is a tall building so it is hard to capture it fully, in the 1900's when it was built it was one of the tallest buildings in the city. I love the architecture of the hotel and wanted to capture all its details.
Upon entering the reception of the Hotel, I was impressed by its design, which combines elegance and style, merging the old with the modern. I really liked to appreciate the green note inside, there were very well arranged plants. I took the opportunity to take some pictures.
Antes de regresar a casa, hicimos una parada en el Hotel Meliá San Carlos para reservar una cena familiar en horario nocturno. Fue un poco complicado capturar el edificio en su totalidad debido a su ubicación en una de las estrechas calles de la ciudad. Es un edificio alto por eso cuesta captarlo totalmente , en los años 1900 cuando fue construido era uno de los edificios más altos de la ciudad. Me encanta la arquitectura del hotel y quería capturar todos sus detalles.
Al entrar en la recepción del Hotel, quedé impresionada por su diseño, que combina elegancia y estilo, fusionando lo antiguo con lo moderno. Me gustó mucho apreciar una la nota verde en su interior, habian plantas muy ben dispuestas. Aproveché y tomé algunas fotos.
Being in this city always brings back memories of my childhood, as I lived here for five years due to my parents' work. I feel a deep love and attachment for Cienfuegos, and walking through its streets relaxes me and fills me with joy. Every corner transports me to happy moments and shared experiences. In addition to the architectural beauty.

Estar en esta ciudad siempre me trae recuerdos de mi infancia, ya que viví aquí cinco años debido al trabajo de mis padres.
