#Wednesday Walk - Enjoying the Company of Horses!

This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.

If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.

On one of our recent walks, we spent some time with the horses at the Shongweni Club!

The Shongweni Club is a well-known landmark in the Polo Pony area, just outside Hillcrest in the Upper Highway area, about 30 km west of Durban.

The Shongweni Club once was a Polo venue only where the game of polo was played. But over time it welcomed other sports and disciplines as well. Currently, it is equally popular among mountain bikers and trail runners. Even the local rugby club is now situated on the premises of the Shongweni Club.

Another popular activity is for model airplane enthusiasts to live out their passion, enjoying the open spaces provided by the club.

But the main attraction remains the horses. According to their website, today, the "Shongweni Club is recognized as being the equestrian hub of Kwa-Zulu Natal and renowned as one of the best competitive venues in the country."

This guy immediately came closer for some special attention...lol.

First...a nice little pose for the camera...

When I decided to move on, he listened to my story, but it looked like he wasn't convinced. He thought about it, but didn't like the idea that I had to move on...lol!

More toward the other side of the paddock, I took some shots of his friends as well. Being all relaxed and peaceful, they weren't all that phased about getting my attention.

If you follow this road through the avenue of trees, you go to the stables and various fields where they host various competitions, such as show-jumping and other kinds of competitions.

As far as I know, this is the field where they normally play polo matches in the next photo. This is also where the guys come to fly their model airplanes.

And in the last photo for today, the same space, just from a different angle...
