The Ruin of Sutton Scarsdale Hall

For my #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay I made a return visit to the ruin of Sutton Scarsdale Hall which is a Georgian mansion built in 1724-29. Sadly, it's interiors were dismantled and some were actually exported to America.

After years of being fenced off and deemed dangerous, the hall has finally been made safe for the public to enter. This news has pleased visitors as everyone has been asking for the hall to be accessible to people for years.

There's free parking just outside the hall, and totally free to look around.

I've never been inside so I was looking forward to it.

There's not been a roof on it since 1919. Two of the rooms had still got locked gates at the entrance, but there were still plenty of rooms to see.

As well as the hall there's some lovely views over the grounds with plenty of walks to explore. I think everyone is pleased the metal fencing has come down as it was an eyesore. I just hope the hall is respected.
