A wee walk in La Punta on a beach day

Hello Hivers!

Today my Wednesday Walk was on the beach. My son had told me he wanted to go to the beach for a day before going back to college. He leaves next Sunday. So this morning, we put some drinks in a cooler, packed a salad for a picnic and some fruit, and got in the car to spend the day at the beach. Something we haven't done for a long time, by the way.

Caracas is in a valley, but by crossing the mountains by highway, in less than an hour, you can reach the coast of the state of La Guaira. In there is among other things, one of the most important ports of the country and the airport that serves Caracas. There are also towns and many beaches along the coast.

Today we wanted to go to a place called Los Caracas, which is a bit further away, but we wanted to avoid the crowded beaches. So first place, we went to a beach called La Punta in Los Caracas.

This place has good memories for me because it was the beach I used to go to on weekends with my friends when I was young.

But as soon as we arrived we realized we couldn't stay there on the beach since there is almost none. The sea has gained ground, and now practically reaches the road. Before there was a narrow strip of beach that no longer exists.

However, before leaving for another beach, we decided to explore the area a bit. The water looked so blue and inviting.

This is a place where surfers tend to come now, and although today the waves were not so big, we saw a few of them in the sea.

We walked through an area that had vegetation.

And we spotted a small beach nearby.

People were bathing but we decided to not stay there and keep going. This beach was also reached by a kind of stream coming from the mountain.

So we decided to go back. We saw this place that was a restaurant at one time but seemed closed.

In Los Caracas, in the '50s a resort complex was developed and many of the buildings in the area are from that time but many are now in disuse.

And somewhat deteriorated like this one that seemed to be a surfboard warehouse because on one of its walls there were several painted.

We walk back to the beginning of La Punta.

We took some more pictures of the beach.

And we went back to the car to continue a little more on the road and look for another beach. I will tell you about it some other time. That's all for today.
