My college classmate (birthday girl)

Happy Hump Day, amazing people!

Yesterday afternoon just before the sunset, the sky painted in shades of gold as my daughter and I was walking towards Kabsat Restaurant, soaking in the beauty of the sunset. We whipped out our phones, playing amateur photographers to capture the magic of the moment. There is a short brige going to the beach next to the restaurant, and walking towards the bridge, we were giggling as we took fun reflection photos in the pond below, adding a sprinkle of playfulness to our little photo adventure. The thrill of seeing my college friends again mingled with the joy of the serene scene around us, making us appreciate the peaceful pause in the midst of the lively beach vibe. Waiting never felt so enchanting, like a scene from a feel-good movie! Yeah, I'm a die-hard nature lover.

So anyway, yesterday was a blast as my daughter and I joined the birthday bash of my college classmate at the iconic beach restaurant here in my town San Juan, La Union - Kabsat. Kabsat is an Ilokano term for "Sibling". You get the idea why the resto was named like that. It's the vibe it offers. And let me tell you, the night was filled with laughter, good food, and great company. The late afternoon kicked off with me picking up my daughter from school, and off we went to meet my college friend celebrating her birthday along with 2 more, and one of whom just came home from Guam for a short vacation, we were ready to celebrate in style. The birthday dinner was actually started at 6 pm, and as we settled in, the sun was painting the sky in hues of orange and gold.

As we waited for our food, we started reminiscing about our college days. We shared funny stories and jokes like there was no tomorrow. Even my daughter got in on the fun and said she liked my friends because they were cool and not boring. It was a real laugh riot! When it came to ordering, we went all out on Filipino dishes, from crispy pata, to Kilawen, buttered seafood, savory pansit to sizzling pork sisig and many more. And of course, there were buckets of beer flowing, though I opted for a refreshing mango shake instead. I stopped drinking 15 years ago. The night was filled with laughter and good times that we'll never forget. When it got late, my friends dropped us off at home before they hit up a karaoke bar. I really wanted to join them, but my daughter had school the next day, so we had to pass on the singing session this time. But hey, there's always a next time for me to unleash my inner diva on the karaoke mic lol. Until then, here's to more nights of laughter, Filipino feasts, and unforgettable moments with friends old and new. Cheers to the good times at Kabsat!

It was indeed a great day!!
