We often talk a lot here about using our Hive assets in the world to render payments for real-worlds goods and services. Most of the time when this comes up in conversation, it's usually assumed that we'd have to convert our Hive assets to local fiat currencies to actually be able to use them. What the amazing individuals from @hivesucre are doing in Sucre, Venezuela, however, clearly demonstrates that this is not necessarily the case at all. In their most recent post, HOLA dice Hive [Eng subbed], they celebrate the incredible milestone of successfully onboarding their 50th business to accepting HBD as a valid form of payment.

It's an exciting day for the Hive Sucre community! We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved another significant milestone: 50 allied businesses in our network, and our 50th ally is none other than HOLA Supercenter (@holasupercenter)!
The HOLA Supercenter has 14 distinct businesses under its umbrella, so this is a major accomplishment indeed, and one that gives Hivers everywhere the template for how this, through focused community outreach and education, can be accomplished anywhere. What's so exciting about this is that in do so, it is possible to completely circumvent local debt-based fiat currencies, and the governments and banks that control them. This is sovereignty in action, as people take back their power and freedom.
Right now the focus is on HBD because it's a stablecoin pegged go the US dollar, but in time, as the whole Hive Ecosystem's true value is more greatly appreciated, we may see other Hive assets, like HIVE or many possible layer-2 tokens, beginning to be utilized in this manner as well. This is exceedingly exciting, and one that we have the ability to initiate where we live, though as mentioned above, this would require some very focused outreach and education in our local communities.
With sufficient HBD in Savings, and the present 20% APR and monthly compounding interest, it would be quite feasible for an indivual to generate enough HBD each month to easily be able buy and pay what they need. If businesses in his or her local community accepted HBD as payment, then it would be all the easier. I believe this is possible, and I'm working toward that goal every day here as I endeavor to build and grow my account, and the whole Hive Ecosystem along with it. What we're seeing in Sucre is Hive's potential being actualized in the world, and it's a beautiful sight to behold!
Yesterday was a mostly cloudy and rainy Friday here in the jungle, and one where I got a little later start on my Hive catch-up and tasks, which means that I finished them later, too, around 4:30PM. Since I finished so late, my first order of operation was to take photos for this post before it got too dark, so I walked around for a bit doing that. I had intended to do some work with my plants, but I ended up just helping Braja (Ano's) mother with a few tasks around her place, like swapping out a propane tank and unpacking and setting up a new printer. Some days I get a great deal done, other days not so much.
I got my evening Hive catch-up and tasks done early again, so I went to sleep around 10:30PM, and I slept well until about 4AM, at which point I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I did a quick round oh Hive, then I tried to get back to sleep, but to no avail. I feel a bit off this morning, with a mild headache, which is telling me I need more sleep.
It's now just past 1PM, so a good time to end this post so that I can go lay down for a bit more, and hopefully sleep. I deeply appreciate you all! Until tomorrow morning! Onward and upward, joyfully together! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
