I live barefooted and naked, very close to Earth and Nature, in a 16-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i. Who creates and develops Hive? Who runs and governs it? Who owns it? Yep, exactly, the answer to all of these questions is the same: you and me, the global Hive community. We the people of Hive, the stakeholders, have 100% responsibility for this exceptional Blockchain.
There is no other platform or blockchain in the world where the community is so deeply involved in, and responsible for, every aspect of what happens here. Many of us find our way here, wandering from other platforms where such responsibility does not exist, and as such we often begin our journey here thinking that it is just like any other social media platform or blockchain with which we've had experience.
We quickly learn, however, that this is not the case, and that it's us who are responsible for everything. This is a massive paradigm shift for most people, hence many of the hiccups and challenges that they experience upon their arrival. Hive is a whole different animal. I'd say that most people are not accustomed to such a level of responsibility in their own lives, never mind on a social blockchain like Hive, so there's a notable learning curve and acclimatization period. Hive is a brilliant school and framework for learning ever-greater responsibility, on chain, and in our own lives.
It was a sunny and beautiful Friday in the jungle yesterday, with Hive getting most of my focus from morning until about about 4PM. I'm grateful that I'm able to devote so much contiguous time to Hive so often. I've been able to stay caught up on notifications and tasks all week, which is great.
On the topic of my Hive responsibilities, I finally did something yesterday that I've been meaning to do for quite a while now. For most of my time on Hive I proxied my witness and proposal votes to an individual who strongly supported free speech. Because I love and believe in Hive so much, I feel that it's important for me to do my own voting from here on out, so yesterday, for the first time, I voted for 30 witnesses and a good array of proposals. This gave me a great feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction, and that I was upping my game with my involvement in Hive.
Before beginning work, I walked around again to take more photos for this post, which has become an enjoyable daily ritual. For land work I did two tasks. One, I transplanted some interesting Coleus variations to the new Coleus beds that I had created along the throughway between Tutu's (the main community building) and Kana's house. I always try to plant as many different variations as I can in the same areas so that they will cross-fertilize and originate amazing new combinations.
The second task was machete clearing a small hillside between the new orchard and one of the main trails that was getting far too overgrown. It was a good workout, and I worked up a good sweat in the process.
After finishing the machete work, I took a shower, strained out more kefir for my kefir-honey-cinnamon-cacao blend, got some food supplies for Tutu's, then I made myself some food (spiced and seasoned egg and beef patties). With food made, I returned to the Flow House to do another round of Hive catch-up and tasks.
Io(lanthe) was hanging out at the Flow House again watching movies on her tablet, as I worked on Hive. I walked her back to the Ka at 10PM, which was definitely better than last night's 11PM. I stayed up for maybe an hour more finishing up my Hive rounds, and then I went to sleep. I woke up around 3am, and couldn't get back to sleep, so I did a few short Hive tasks, and then made another attempt at sleep.
While I didn't sleep much more, I feel pretty good this morning. I began writing this post before I got out of bed, then took a break to go make my superfood fire coffee. While I was in the Landing making that, Ano came in and asked me if I could work on his neck for a little bit. I agreed, so I did that for maybe half an hour.
With my superfood fire coffee made, I returned to the Flow House to finish writing this post. I'm scheduled to give Laksanya another session around 12PM, so I'm working to get Hive to a good stopping point before then.
It's now almost 11AM, so a good time to end this post and get to a bit of Hive catch-up before the session. I deeply appreciate you all! Until tonight or more likely tomorrow morning! Onward and upward, together! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
