Rainy Thursday. In addition to that detail of the weather, it was a shopping day, and I'm glad I didn't get too wet from the rain, it was purely by chance that when I left the house it wasn't raining, and when I was back, the rain took a brief pause …there are days in my #life when it seems like this world is treating me kindly (personal smile), and that is something to be grateful for. With the power failures, I am very glad that at this moment I have a way to write and publish, so I will try to be quick (and publish before the next unscheduled failure), in short, it is like trying to work on the computer as if I were living inside a 'SpeedRunner' style game. You have to take it with the best possible humor.

Jueves de lluvias. Además de ese detalle del clima, fue un día de compras, y me alegro de que no me mojara mucho la lluvia, fue de pura casualidad que cuando salí de casa estaba sin llover, y cuando estaba de regreso, la lluvia tomó una breve pausa… hay días de mi #vida en que parece que este mundo me trata amablemente (sonrisa personal), y eso es algo para estar agradecido. Con las fallas del servicio eléctrico, me alegra mucho que en este momento tengo como escribir y publicar, así que trataré de ser veloz (y publicar antes de la siguiente falla no programada), en fin, que es como tratar de trabajar en la computadora como si estuviera viviendo dentro de un juego de estilo ‘SpeedRunner’, Hay que tomarlo con el mejor humor posible.
Bien, en realidad la nota de hoy va a ser breve en temas de asuntos personales, pues no he hecho gran cosa, más allá de salir de compras y esquivar las lluvias, así que pasaré a comentar sobre la efeméride de la #Historia para hoy, 21 de septiembre, con una elección del listado de celebraciones que tiene que ver con #musica, y más específicamente con Rock: Hoy es el ‘Día Internacional del Rock Progresivo’.

This style of Rock music was born between the 60s and 70s of the 20th century and remained in the musical environment until the mid-80s, although in this 21st century remasterings and some versions of classics of this genre have been made, but suitable for the logic of current times.

It reminds me of an anecdote, when I was talking to a university colleague, and we were talking about rock, a topic in which my friend knows much more than I do, a young secretary joked saying if we were 'old rockers', a term that has some non-nice connotations (like 'old little boy', a type of old man who ridicules himself by trying to act young), but I smiled and told the young woman that: 'A rocker is never old. He is a rocker and that is enough'.
My friend liked the phrase and adopted it as a motto for his social media biography, for a while, if I remember correctly. On a day like today, I remember these things, and it makes me think, although rock is a genre with many aspects, there are several of these derivations that did not survive, and that would be unthinkable today. In fact, #ProgressiveRock may be one of these cases, its songs had great orchestral arrangements and lyrics with strong philosophical content, but its duration of 4, 7, 15, 20 or (even) 40 minutes makes me unable to imagine no one in this 21st century can stand it.

Me hace recordar una anécdota, cuando estaba hablando con un colega de la universidad y comentábamos sobre rock, tema en el que mi amigo sabe mucho más que yo, una secretaria joven bromeó diciendo si éramos ‘rockeros viejos’, término que tiene algunas connotaciones no del todo amables (como ‘pavo viejo’, un tipo de anciano que se ridiculiza al tratar de actuar como joven), pero yo le sonreí y le dije a la joven que: ‘Un rockero nunca es viejo. Es rockero y eso basta’.
Al amigo le gustó la frase y la adoptó como lema para su biografía en redes sociales, por un tiempo, si no recuerdo mal. Un día como hoy, recuerdo estas cosas y me pone a pensar, si bien el rock es un género con muchas vertientes, hay varias de estas derivaciones que no sobrevivieron, y que en la actualidad serían impensables. De hecho, el #RockProgresivo puede que sea uno de estos casos, sus canciones tenían grandes arreglos orquestales y letras de fuerte contenido filosófico, pero su duración de 4, 7, 15, 20 o (incluso) 40 minutos, hacen que no pueda imaginarme nadie de este siglo XXI que la aguante.

And it's not that everything is that long, but there are creations from that time that lasted a long time. Personally, when I started to remember, I think one of the first things that came to mind was Pink Floyd, and several of their songs, but for the post, I chose only the remastering of this year of 'Time', an original song from 1973 (part of the album 'The Dark Side of the Moon').
I suppose my choice was due to the message in its lyrics, which very directly tells us that #Life is not about preparing for a 'future', or for 'something that will happen', but rather it is about taking control of one's own life in the 'now', is about living 'today', without forgetting yesterday or tomorrow, but knowing that the only thing we really have in our hands are the choices we make every day, as life passes.

Y no es que todo sea así de largo, pero realmente que hay creaciones de esa época que duraban mucho. En lo personal, cuando comencé a recordar, creo que una de las primeras cosas que me vino a la mente fue Pink Floyd, y varias de sus canciones, pero para el post, escogí solamente la remasterización de este año de ‘Time’, una canción original de 1973 (parte del disco ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’).
