This Wednesday I'm a little behind with the things I had pending, well, that happens when you suffer an unscheduled power outage that lasts more than 16 hours (resigned smile), in short, it's a matter of trying to work as soon as the night comes back electricity and try to save the day. This is our daily reality in my beloved and current Venezuela. I'm not going to complain about many things in my #life, because I know I'm better than several million of my own compatriots, so I better take a breath, get mental strength, and move on.

Este miércoles estoy un poco atrasado con las cosas que tenía pendiente, bueno, eso sucede cuando sufres un corte de servicio eléctrico no programado que dura más de 16 horas (sonrisa resignada), en fin, es cosa de tratar de trabajar en cuanto regresó la electricidad y tratar de salvar el día. Esta es nuestra realidad cotidiana en mi querida y actual #Venezuela. No me voy a quejar de muchas cosas en mi #vida, porque sé que estoy mejor que varios millones de mis propios compatriotas, así que mejor tomo aire, hago fuerza mental, y seguimos adelante.
Mejor pasemos a comentar sobre la efeméride de la #Historia mundial que escogí para hoy. Bueno, hay una efeméride nacional que es bien importante hoy también, pero de verdad que preferí tomar un tema más ligero y a la vez, un tema que me pareció divertido y de alcance internacional. Hoy se cumplen 77 años de la presentación, en 1946, en una piscina de París (Francia), del traje de baño de dos piezas de reducido tamaño para su época, por lo que se celebra como el ‘Día Mundial del Bikini’.

Ese bikini blanco de Ursula Andress pasó a ser el más famoso de la historia, por lo menos en el siglo XX. Por cierto, me he saltado un poco las cosas, regresemos a la década de los 40 y hablemos un poco de la creación de la prenda. El que ideó este traje de baño atrevido fue el ingeniero automotriz Louis Réard, de quien se cuenta que estuvo durante algún tiempo (antes de graduarse como ingeniero, según parece) a cargo del negocio de lencería de su madre, así que él no era ajeno a la ropa femenina, y más aún a las que eran de muy reducidas dimensiones y muy íntimas.

Right from the start, the design was as explosive as the experiments that were being carried out at sea. It really seems interesting to me how he launched into this adventure, but it really does not surprise me that he was not accepted at the time, he was very daring, quite a leap forward in terms of the subject. It was too daring, even for the crazy atmosphere of #Paris. Despite that, time gave this daring design success, becoming part of the usual beach environment of our most recent decades.

Ya de entrada, el diseño era tan explosivo como los experimentos que se estaban haciendo en el mar. En verdad que me parece interesante como se lanzó en esta aventura, pero de verdad que no me sorprende que no fuera aceptado en su momento, era muy atrevido, todo un salto adelante en cuanto al tema. Era demasiado atrevido, incluso para el alocado ambiente de Paris. A pesar de eso, el tiempo le dio el éxito a este atrevido diseño, pasando a ser parte del ambiente playero habitual de nuestras décadas más recientes.
