Today is Thursday, it has rained a lot during the day, but at this time of year that weather is normal. Usually, this day of the week I go out to buy some groceries, but due to the weather it was better not to go out, luckily we have enough at home to be able to delay shopping for another day.
My day has been calm, just the way I like it, after a good coffee prepared by my brother, I started looking for the #History ephemeris we had today, and among the several that I reviewed there was one that caught my attention, already with the beginning of the publication, surely you know what I am talking about, it is precisely the day declared by #UNESCO to combat Bullying, violence and harassment in schools, including cyberbullying in recent years as part of this problem.

Hoy es jueves, ha llovido bastante durante el día, pero en esta época del año ese clima es algo normal. Usualmente, este día de la semana salgo a comprar algunos víveres, pero por el clima fue mejor no salir, por suerte tenemos suficiente en casa para poder retrasar las compras para otro día.
Mi día ha sido calmado, tal como me gusta, luego de un buen café preparado por mi hermano, me puse a buscar que efeméride de la #Historia teníamos hoy, y entre las varias que revisé hubo una que me llamó la atención, ya con el inicio de la publicación, de seguro que sabes de cuál estoy hablando, justamente es el día declarado por la UNESCO para combatir el #Bullying, la violencia y el acoso en las escuelas, incluyendo en años recientes el ciberacoso como parte de esta problemática.
Mi día ha sido calmado, tal como me gusta, luego de un buen café preparado por mi hermano, me puse a buscar que efeméride de la #Historia teníamos hoy, y entre las varias que revisé hubo una que me llamó la atención, ya con el inicio de la publicación, de seguro que sabes de cuál estoy hablando, justamente es el día declarado por la UNESCO para combatir el #Bullying, la violencia y el acoso en las escuelas, incluyendo en años recientes el ciberacoso como parte de esta problemática.

UNESCO, as an organ of the United Nations #UN, proposes this date as a reminder of the need to fight against this social scourge, raise awareness of the need for an educational environment free of violence, and remind victims of harassment and violence that they are not alone and that they can receive help to get out of that situation.
The reason that led me to select this event has to do with the fact that a few days ago, a young adolescent, with an autistic condition, committed suicide by throwing himself into the subway rails of the capital city of #Venezuela, because he was being harassed in his school and his mind collapsed. He could no longer bear the situation and took his own life.

La UNESCO, como órgano de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas #ONU, propone esta fecha como un recordatorio de la necesidad de luchar contra esta lacra social, sensibilizar sobre la necesidad de un ambiente educativo libre de violencia, y recordarles a las víctimas de acoso y violencia que no están solas y que pueden recibir ayuda para librarse de esa situación.
El motivo que me llevó a seleccionar esta efeméride tiene que ver con que hace pocos días, un joven adolescente, con condición autista, se suicidó al arrojarse a los rieles del subterráneo de la ciudad capital de #Venezuela, debido a que estaba sufriendo acoso en su escuela y su mente colapsó. Él ya no podía soportar la situación y se quitó la vida.

In this country we usually say that we do not have serious problems of systematic violence in schools, or armed school gangs, nor do we have cases of school massacres in which a student arrives with a weapon and begins to kill classmates. But, we have a problem that seems more 'soft', but it is still a problem, it is the tendency to play with words, offend with jokes and (in an extreme case) reach physical #aggression.
In Venezuela we call it 'Chalequeo' which is a word that I never found meaning in, until I came across an old saying that said 'if the vest fits you, put it on', which refers to the fact that if they say something about you that is true , then it makes no sense for anyone to deny it. This leads to a chalequeo where the mockery and exaggeration of a person's trait or flaw is used as a source of jokes, cruel jokes and (albeit very covertly) contempt, promoting a systematic contempt and attacking the person socially and psychologically.

En este país solemos decir que no tenemos graves problemas de violencia sistemática en las escuelas, ni pandillas escolares armadas, tampoco tenemos casos de masacres escolares en que algún estudiante llegue con un arma y comience a matar compañeros de escuela. Pero, tenemos un problema que parece más 'suave', pero no deja de ser un problema, se trata de la tendencia a jugar con las palabras, ofender con bromas y (llegado un caso extremo) llegar a la agresión física.
En #Venezuela lo llamamos 'Chalequeo' que es una palabra que nunca le encontré sentido, hasta que me hallé con un viejo refrán que decía 'si el chaleco te queda, póntelo', que hace referencia a que si dicen algo de ti que es cierto, entonces no tiene sentido que nadie lo niegue. Esto lleva a un chalequeo donde la burla y la exageración de un rasgo o defecto de una persona se usa como fuete de bromas, chistes crueles y (aunque sea de manera muy encubierta) despreció, impulsando un sistemático menosprecio y atacando la persona social y sicológicamente.

I really can't understand the pleasure that aggressors feel when they hurt their victims, either with ridicule or with blows. I guess the sadistic tendencies of these people are greater than I can understand
I was sorry to hear the news of the boy's suicide on the radio, and I wish something like that would never happen again.

En verdad que no logro entender el placer que sienten los agresores cuando lastiman a sus víctimas, ya sea con burlas, o con golpes. Supongo que las tendencias sádicas de esa gente son mayores a las que yo puedo comprender
