The moment has come! After almost 3 years of running Liotes, we have finally made a huge step in our commitment to the HIVE blockchain by running our own HIVE Witness node! The idea existed from the very beginning of the project, but good things need time to be developed, built, and improved... and the time has come!
It's not an easy job to run a project that thrives to gather a community around it, build sustainable tokenomics, and most importantly, show by example its dedication to the success of everyone involved! As we try to keep most things transparent with our community and try to build a sustainable project, we needed time to gather funds for Hive witness costs... Our thinking is: If the complete system isn't sustainable, it's not worth building it!

Long story short, behind Liotes project (and this witness) stands @achim03 and @ph1102... Both of us with over 4-5 years on HIVE and much more in the cryptocurrency world! We do understand what blockchain tech stands for, and we are willing to "fight" to protect those values... Transparency, decentralization, freedom of speech, and much more! Also, we do understand that it's impossible to achieve that without the community and without teaching others of these values... That's why we are doing that through our regular posts on our channel and especially with our "Liotes Mission" posts where we have two-way communication with the community about important things on the chain!
Our mission goes forward and out of Liotes, as we are trying to show by our personal example how to live crypto, and how to keep crypto values alive!
Tech specs
For running this Witness node we have rented out a dedicated server with these hardware specifications:
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1270v6
Memory: 32 GB DDR4
Storage: 2x450 GB SSD NVMe
As of writing this post, this machine is more than enough to run the HIVE Witness node... If there is a need, we will upgrade certain specs in the future!
Regarding the software used for building the node, we chose Linux UBUNTU 22.04 LTS... Other resources used:
At the moment of writing this post, we still haven't produced our first block as we haven't come in turn yet... If you rank higher, the probability of producing a block is higher and that's why we need YOUR help!
