If you want to make it in this life, you have to keep going without minding your speed. If you keep on going, you will definitely make progress, to you it might not seem so because it is not as fast as you want but mind you, a step you took keep you forward just forget how slow it may be and it is better than not taking any step at all. There is nothing to rush about in this life because everything about it is vanity, if you rush yourself too much, you might end up crashing and it's going to be your lose.
Don't let the peer pressure push you into doing something that you will regret. It is better to go slow and achieve great than to rush and lose everything you have ever worked for. The choice is yours and only you can make decision about your life because you know what you want better than anyone.
