After soaking the forsythia flowers in buttermilk overnight, we strained out the flowers and we're left with flower infused buttermilk.
My wife made the pie dough and formed it in the pie pan.
We use rice to weigh down the crust to the pan and bake.
My wife makes a custard and we add the flower-flavored buttermilk as the final ingredient.
A double boil to make the custard. Once finished, we put the custard in the baked pie crust and put it in the refrigerator overnight to solidify.
We add whipped cream on the top for some extra fluffiness.
We baked three pies total, two for our family and another for my family next door.
"Would you like a pie?" It was a welcome gift!
