In this post I go through the meaning of the tags that we use in the We Are Alive Tribe, and why they are important, enjoy!

Hi there and welcome to my blog, my name is Erik Gustafsson and I go by the handle @flaxz.

The Importance Of Our Tribe Tags

So as you might be aware we have a few different tags in the We Are Alive Tribe, listed below.

All of these 5 tags are added to Scotbot, so if you use any of them then your post will end up in our tribe, plus our Hive Community is also added as well.

It might therefore be easy to think that just using any tag is the right way to go if you want to earn $ALIVE tokens and get support from the tribe.

But that is where it's not really that easy.

And there is also good reason for using a specific tag rather than any tag.

1. The #iamalivechallenge

This is a specific tag in our tribe, and it was also the first challenge created over a year before the tribe was even created, and it is curated by the @iamalivechalleng account.

With this account we look for on topic posts for the #iamalivechallenge using this tag in our tribe interface, https://www.wearealiveand.social/created/iamalivechallenge

We also curate on topic posts in our Hive Community with this account, plus projects that adds value to the tribe, mainly curation projects and tribe statistics and such, and this account is using some Voting Power to follow the curation trail of @alive.chat, including comments.

Here is the Posting Guidelines for the #iamalivechallenge.

  • The 4 points of the #iamalivechallenge, all points are mandatory, and it's one post daily plus share your Proof Of Life, and this challenge is about finding hope of a better tomorrow despite the troubles in the world, and sharing your gratitude for being alive.

And yes the photo or video of either yourself or something that makes you feel alive is very important.

2. The #larryisalive Contest

This is a hunt for Larry The Postman in up to 6 different traffic exchanges and mailers, and you need to post your Proof Of Larry in your post, after finding Larry at least 1 time, plus the post needs to be at least 50 words long to qualify, and you are then entered into the daily contest taking place on the @lukeisalive account, which is run by @maddogmike.

The @lukeisalive account is also used to curate valid posts for the contest, and you can read more about it in @alive.chat on Thursdays as Larry is making a weekly visit there, plus you can check out the Larry Is Alive Community.

3. #aliveandthriving

This tag was added to the tribe some time after the tribe was created, we did not just want to survive like with the #iamalivechallenge during Covid, but also look to the future, and therefore #aliveandthriving was created as way to share your journey to thrive in life.

As you can understand this tag is a lot broader than the ones above, and what you share to thrive in life is also really defined by you as well, but to not be completely lost on what we mean we have some Posting Guidelines for this tag too.

  • The 4 points of #aliveandthriving, the first point is mandatory, then add one or more of the rest, share your journey to thrive in life.

We have 2 accounts supporting this tag in different ways.

First we have the @aliveandthriving account, which is all about curating good on topic content in the tribe that is using this tag and a Team working to find it, https://www.wearealiveand.social/created/aliveandthriving

The @aliveandthriving account has with it's incoming Alive Power delegations by far the most Alive Power to vote with in the whole tribe, and the @youarealive account is also following it's curation trail, and @youarealive has quite a bit of incoming Hive Power delegations to vote with.

Secondly we have the daily contest in @alive.chat, also with a Team, there is a daily topic task to complete to take part in this contest, each one meant to build good daily and weekly habits, and we use this account to curate the comments made by the people taking part, plus the daily prizes for the contest is quite big to motivate participation, and as some of the prizes include Alive Power delegations also to spread out the stake as well.

4. #alive and #wearealive

These tags are basically general tribe tags, we do not have any tribe accounts that specifically look to curate them, and while there are no Posting Guidelines for them, posts in the tribe is still expected to be on topic for the first 3 tags, even if they might have missed to add them.

5. Other Tribe Accounts

We also have a few more tribe accounts curating as well.

  • @wearealive - This account follows the curation trails of various tribe accounts and a few more project accounts in the tribe, all with a 6% vote currently, plus we also manually go through the first 3 tags and curate on topic content, also with a 6% vote, and the aim is that on topic posts using correct tags should at least have some reward of $ALIVE, even if they did not get voted by a bigger account.
  • @aliveprojects - This account is curating on topic posts in the tribe that have been promoted by burning $ALIVE tokens, and according to vote consideration, votes are not guaranteed, see @alive.chat on Tuesdays for more info as that is when we have our weekly ALIVE Burning Contest.
  • @aliveandsocial - This account has over 21k BEE Power to vote with (the 4th largest on Hive last I checked), and we upvote on topic content in the tribe using the #hive-engine and #tribes tags, to be included you need to have 100 $ALIVE tokens staked or more, over 1k $ALIVE staked can increase the votes as well, all manual curation.

Why All These Tags?

As the tribe is growing we also need to open up the tribe to keep on growing, when we first started we had the #iamalivechallenge and #larryisalive, and that was it and very narrow, and then we added #aliveandthriving which was broader.

But for a tribe to not lose it's core of what it's really about, and to keep the community together it's also important to make the tribe go in it's intended direction.

This is where a sort of second layer validation with specific tags comes in, you need to care enough about the tribe and what the tribe is about to be eligeble for curation from tribe accounts, and thereby earning more $ALIVE tokens compared to people who don't.

As we grow this is the only way to keep the tribe on topic in practice and essence, with people who care about what this tribe is really about.

The We Are Alive Tribe, with the #iamalivechallenge, the #larrysisalive contest and #aliveandthriving, is all about the people in it, sharing their lives, the good the bad and the ugly, to get support when they are down, and rejoice on their journey as they overcome whatever is in their way and move forward to live their lives to the fullest, and with the tools and the community around them to make it happen.

Sure, we still have a lot more work ahead of us to really make the kind of impact that we want, but we keep working on it.

So to conclude, the tags do matter, and make sure to use them.

Thank You!

Thank you very much for reading this post and I hope you liked it, leave your thoughts in the comments below, and ...

Erik Gustafsson
