Much like beer,though it has low alcohol content. It is made from the fermented juice of the agave plant.

PULQUE was sampled by the Spanish conquistadores when they arrived Mexico in the early16th century. Though it contains low percentage of alcohol, it also served as nutritional supplements because it also contains vitamins and minerals, carbohydrates, vegetable proteins

The Spaniards are accustomed to having alcoholic beverages with their meals, so they distilled agave juice into something stronger called mescal. Mescal became the precursor of today's TEQUILA.

A town in the highlands of central Mexico where blue agave is cultivated is near the town of Tequila.
Agave plants needs 12years to mature so as to absorb lots of minerals.

Many Mexican enjoys tequila, accompanied by salt and a slice of lime.
Foreigners are more familiar with the MAGARITA, a cocktail of tequila mixed with lime juice and orange-flavored liqueur with crushed ice.
