Pulpos, un integrante de la fauna marina muy poco comprendido y conocido, usualmente se le recuerda por forma de escape estilo ninja, en el que distrae a su enemigo o depredador lanzando un chorro de tinta, característica por la que regularmente en las películas infantiles, en las que aparecen se hace mención de ello de manera jocosa. Así estos personajes de ocho tentáculos tienen su día internacional el cual se celebra todos los 8 de octubre, así esta publicación la dedicare a compartir un poquito de lo que descubrí de estos personajes.

Lo primero que deseo compartir es que no sabia que esta especie marina lleva muchos años en la tierra o mejor dicho sobreviviendo en ella, por otro lado, son familia de los moluscos cefalópodos, carecen de esqueleto, son invertebrados. Poseen 8 tentáculos en los cuales hay ventosas y como dato curioso estos personajes tienen tres (3) corazones.

Ahora bien, como ya mencione si algo caracteriza a estos seres es un habilidad para evitar ser atacado, yo particularmente los comparo con los ninjas cuando lanzan sus chorros de tinta y logran su rápida huida, evitando a depredadores y enemigos, aunque no lo parezca este señor de ojos saltones, amorfos y de cabeza abultada, nada muy rápido y lo logra gracias a que usa un aparato mediante el cual expulsa agua y así logra impulsarse a gran velocidad, además podríamos decir que los son de la nobleza ya que su sangre es azul, los pulpos tienen 500 millones de neuronas, distribuidas entre su cerebro y su cuerpo.

De la misma manera, este curioso personaje es capaz de mimetizarse con su entrono adoptando similitud con los colores que lo rodean esto con el firme propósito de pasar desapercibido, sobre esto último, les comparto la información que nos comparte National Geographic España:

Otra de sus múltiples virtudes es su capacidad de esconderse a la vista: usando una red de células pigmentarias y músculos especializados en su piel, el pulpo común puede casi instantáneamente coincidir con los colores, patrones e incluso texturas de su entorno. Pero si todo esto falla, un pulpo, además, puede perder alguno de sus brazos para escapar al agarre del depredador.

Acerca de esta fecha nace de una iniciativa propuesta por la revista Octopus News Magazine Online (TONMO), ellos decidieron elegir el 8° día del mes de octubre con la finalidad de mostrar la admiración por los animales con ocho apéndices y de celebrar y dar a conocer su diversidad, conservación y biología.

Por otro lado, estos curiosos seres tienen un tipo de vida aproximado de dos a cinco años, esta última edad solo para pulpos grandes, se alimentan principalmente de algas y algunos animales, su reproducción se realiza por medio de uno de sus tentáculos que en realidad es su órgano reproductivo, el macho intruse ese tentáculo en la hembra y libera las capsulas en las que se encuentran los espermatozoides. Por acá les comparto algunas curiosidades sobre los pulpos:

Hay algunas especies de pulpos que son venenosos, lo cual puede resultar letal tanto para otras especies marinas como para el hombre.
Es un animal tan versátil, que pueden encontrarse hasta 300 tipos de pulpos en los mares de todo el mundo.
Poseen un pico y pueden respirar a través de sus tentáculos.
Es la única criatura marina, que se conoce hasta ahora con tres corazones, uno que bombea sangré sólo hacia los órganos de todo el cuerpo y los otros dos, para bombear la sangre en sus extremidades.
Se calcula que pueden ser una de las especies más antiguas del planeta, ya que se encontraron vestigios de un pulpo, que data de aproximadamente 296 millones de años.
Las hembras de esta especie, son capaces de reproducir hasta 100.000 huevos.

En resumen hay pulpos de diversos tamaños, formas texturas y colores, pero todos son interesantes y hermosos merecen se respetados y conservados, ahora me despido hasta una próxima publicación, deseando desde ya leer sus comentarios.
