A lot of youths these days find themselves committing crimes for various reasons known to them. From peer pressure to just the basic need to survive... What are your thoughts on this? Why do you think crime among the youths has been on the increase? And what ways do you think they can be stopped?

Delinquency among young people.
This is a very painful and serious issue in Nigeria. That is why it is good to investigate what causes antisocial behaviour, how to prevent it, what is required for youth therapy, and what measures must be done in this regard. The factors that caause youth crimes are many. It includes personal and behavioral factors coming together to cause a specific behavior.
Why has youth delinquency been on the increase?
One major psychological theory views crime as a purposeful reaction to a life experience holds that humans are not born with inherent human actions. Als crime and violence can be learnt by copying other people's behavior.

Concerns about the family
A young person's growth is heavily influenced by the family, particularly the parents. These can be issues related to the family. In Nigeria, we've noticed that in recent days and weeks, adolescents whose poor parents are unable to provide for their basic requirements have gone for yahoo boys (those who engage in internet fraud and, in some cases, ritual killings to get wealthy) to avenge themselves and their families. It can be difficult for family members or other caretakers to pay close attention and manage these youngsters so that they do not eventually wind up in an adverse situation.
A youth may be influenced to commit a crime by their circumstances. Domestic abuse, parental neglect, and unhealthy habits, among other factors, can lead to criminal behavior.
Sometimes, parents or caregivers don't even know what to do with their children or ward. The ones with the money just put their children in the best schools, give them everything that money can but leave the ideal moulding of their child's character to money or gadgets and sure, these things have be shown to have done and be doing a bad job on our precious young ones.
One violent behavior promotes another violent behavior.
Victims of abuse are frequently potential offenders. People may be exposed to violence in a range of social environments, including their homes, schools, and workplaces. Children who have encountered violence are more likely to have difficult relationships with adults, be unable to interact with their friends, and become "abusive" in order to gain attention.
Peer Pressure, the Social Media Fallacy, and Imitation — One crime lead to a cycle of more crimes.
During adolescence, people want to develop their own personality and distinguish themselves, and the effect of parents is frequently supplanted by that of peers and the fallacy seen on social media. As a result, youths may become motivated by and follow examples of :
• relatives or members of the family who commit crimes;
• peers who are likely to engage in criminal behavior;
In addition, depressed-neighborhood youths frequently join gangs for protection. Gang members' peer pressure frequently leads to criminal behavior.
Psychological difficulties
Poor social and financial situation, parents' indifference, feelings of inadequacy, lack of attention, and a variety of other factors can cause mental distress in youngsters . Excessive violence, depression, fear and so on can lead to them committing crimes.
Prevention of Delinquency mong young people
There must be an avenue for our young to recognize the right road in the face of such causes as violence, psychological disorders and other elements that urge our youth to imdulge in criminal acts.
Education and training for Parents and Caregivers by the Government and/ or - Non-governmental Organisations for Youth, Youth foundations and the like, on how to better communicate with and understand their children or ward and bring them up in a good moral standard. Also, for the financially handicapped parents, incentives can be given to them to enable them take care of their families and curb the risk of involvement in crime by their children or youth.
Educating the youth on the dangers of indulging in crimes by various agents of socialisation e.g Church, Schools, Ethnic Grouos, Media, Digital Groups or Clubs.
This involves a total reorientation of the minds of our young people so they can think and live rightly.
The Churches and Schools have done extremely well in doing this especially in my country, Nigeria and it will be very encouraging for them to double or even tripple their efforts in training the youths.The Media can help in putting more wholesome, intelligent and thought-provoking contents especially on social media for our youth to consume because "You are what you watch, read and eat"
In addition, young people who show exceptional character and courage and have blazed the trail I'm several walks of life like Education, Technology, Finance should be awarded and given incentives to encourage them and make them role models for their peers to follow.
Re-socialization and rehabilitation of former young offenders
This includes rehabilitating people who have been released from jail, reintegrating them into society as full members, and preventing them from repeating those crimes. This can be done beforetheir release from prison. Several governmental and non-governmental groups should be involved in the process for better control.
This project intends to aid former offenders, and their families in re-socializing through an effective approach that includes employment opportunities, psychosocial and legal counseling and mentorship.
Finally
Considering the present and past actions, youth misconduct is still a problem in Nigeria. Strong, comprehensive measures and participation of both the government and society are required to eliminate them.
