A White Lie I Once Told.

I’ve got a few close friends and so many other friends but there is one thing they all know about me which is the fact that I don’t tell lies. This is not in every case though. There are a few times when I tell lies and that’s basically because I need to protect someone or something.

We’ve been told from childhood that telling lies is bad but I think they missed the part of telling us that white lies are saviours. There are so many things it may cost if we tell the truth and that’s why it is sometimes better to tell lies. I don’t like to lie but I still cannot count how many times I’ve lied in my entire life and that’s because I have to cover up for someone or something. I’d love to share with you a moment when I told a lie.

A White Lie?

For some weeks now, I’ve been staying with my aunt. I’m financially ready to rent an apartment but there’s a particular apartment I’ve been waiting for. They are just building the apartment and it will be good to rent it because no one has ever used it before.

Staying with my aunt, I realized there are so many things wrong with her marriage. She and her husband no longer love each other again and she’s even the one showing it more. She now has a boyfriend who does everything her husband is supposed to be doing for her.

One day, she felt ill and was admitted into the hospital. Her boyfriend drove her to the hospital and I followed them. We got to discover that she’d be admitted into the hospital. Then, I was asked to go get some of the things she’d be needing at the hospital. The boyfriend drove me home so I could get them. When I got to the house, I met her husband. He wanted to follow me back to the hospital since he didn’t know the place. I had to lie to him that I only wanted to give her best friend her things outside and I’d be back in a minute whereas I followe the man back to the hospital to spend the night with her.

If you were me, what would you have done?
If I told him that my aunt’s boyfriend brought me, it could ruin their home because no man will ever accept the fact that his wife is having extra marital affair and at the end of the day, I’d be the one to be blamed if they eventually divorce because of that.
I don’t support the fact that my aunt is having extra marital affairs but I did that to protect her home. I did that to protect my name so my name won’t be mentioned that I ruined their home.

Now, imagine that I followed what we have been taught right from small that we should always say the truth, I’d have ruined their home.
It’s good to always say the truth but we should never forget that white lie saves.
