Schooling is necessary. It is not must but necessary because everyone cannot be selflearnt. As naturally all the child must not be dedicated to education. They will not be able to be flourished if they do not go to school. On the other hand they will not learn the basic ethics and etiquettes.
Some child are naturally devoted to study. They will somehow managed education either they go to school or not but not all the child. Maximum child need guidelines. They need to be nurtured otherwise they will be unable to cope up with the competitive world. We can say there are two kinds of students. One portion is naturally intelligent enough to manage their study themselves. For them is schooling doesn't matter. But this portion is very little. The bigger portion is normal child .They need to be directed otherwise they all will be misguided and distracted.

The role of school as a medium of formal education can be divided into two parts.

Student-centred responsibilities of schools

The main function of schools is to provide students with knowledge in various subjects and to enhance their skills in various tasks in view of specific objectives. Apart from this the responsibilities of the school are-

• Intellectual Development: While schooling helps the student acquire the necessary experience or knowledge, on the other hand it also helps in developing his intellectual qualities, such as thinking, reasoning, imagination etc.

• Personality Development: School exposes new environment to students. This environment interacts with the inherent characteristics of the learner. Students gain new experiences. This is how personality develops.

• Vocational Guidance: It is the special responsibility of the school to introduce the student to the world of vocations, help in choosing vocations and plan vocations according to his inclinations and interests.

• Educational Guidance: Communicating all information related to education to the student; Planning education based on his/her talent, interests and inclinations; Schools have to help in solving educational problems etc.

• Evaluation: It is the school's job to evaluate the student's academic achievement and the development of his character and moral values.

Socio-centric responsibilities of schools:

Apart from all-round development of students, schools play an important role in social preservation and social development. These social responsibilities of schools are—

• Socialization: People living in a society have to follow the rule and regulations of the society. School informs the student about those social customs, manners, various customs and values.

• Preservation of Heritage: We preserve cultural and social heritage through education. Heritage is preserved directly or indirectly through curriculum, curriculum and certain behaviors.

• Circulation of Tradition: Schools not only preserve tradition. It also provides for its transmission to future generations. This tradition is carried out through the delivery of curriculum and curriculum.

• Development of heritage: The school develops a variety of social and cultural heritages among the students.

• Development of democratic sense: To make students aware of the responsibilities and duties of citizens of a democratic country and to inculcate a democratic attitude among them is one of the socio-centric responsibilities of schools.

• Family, School and Community Relationships: Schools should take a leading role in making students aware of the interrelationship and interdependence between family, school and community and in developing these relationships.
