We were all brought knowing that lying is a sin and anyone who lied would go to hell. That’s what we were told and as kids and so we wouldn’t even want to relate with people who lied then. Funny enough, everyone of us has lied at some point in our lives. Some lies are very necessary because sometimes, the truth may get you or someone in trouble so you would just have to lie to manage the situation. I’d like to call this a harmless lie. But then, we have those lies that have a negative impact on the lives of others.
I’m not one to lie and once I find out someone lied to me ,they have automatically lost my trust. I always tell people I’m getting to know as friends to never try to lie to me because i would eventually find out . Most at times, before I even confront you about something I might have even known the truth and me confronting you is just to see if you would speak the truth or look at my face and lie to me like I’m stupid. I’ve had people lie right in my face and all I did was laugh in my head because even someone with a very low IQ would catch on this lie.
Regardless, I wouldn’t say I haven’t lied before. I have, Infact, so many times and I’m not proud of it. But , no one is perfect. Back in the university, I was one of those very serious students for a while. In first year and second year, I would always make sure to be in class even before the lecture time just to catch the front seat because I didn’t want to miss out on anything. But then when we got to third year, it was a whole different story.😂 I was just fed up of the school stress and so I was living the days as they came. It was more like whatever would happen should happen.
Unfortunately for me and my two other friends, one of our friends we sit with in class someway somehow managed to catch all the lecturers attention because he was a very funny person. He would always come to class late and on some days , he wouldn’t even show up. For someone like this, once a lecturer knows you and you don’t make it to class, just know that they will show you shege in the exams. And that’s how we started lying to save our brother. Anytime he didn’t want to come to class, we would either have to tell the lecturer he is sick, he’s on his way to class, he broke his leg, he got kidnapped or any other story we are able to coin up at that moment.
I have also found myself in such situations and my friends lied to save me and so that’s the same thing I was doing for my friend. Sometimes we would even write quizzes for him if he was absent and Vice versa. I understand lying is a sin but this lie was a harmless lie and no one got hurt in the process. At the end of the day, we all graduated together and we hope that God forgives us our sins.😅🙏 What we do to survive.
