Living in a city with good infrastructure is a real privilege. I live in such a city, the largest in the region and, despite its size, it is well run compared to other cities I have lived in or visited. Of course, it has some negative points, depending on the region, but overall it's a great place to live. However, because it is a commercial center, many people come here, which leads to some problems that impact on the infrastructure. Due to the lack of planning, traffic ends up being chaotic.
It's normal that in big cities this is a “natural” problem, but it's still stressful. I believe that today's cities were not designed to accommodate so many cars. After all, if cities arose at a time when there were few cars, if any at all, it would be hard to imagine that this would become a problem in the future. This is a serious problem, because creating a fluid infrastructure should have been done in the past. Changing this today requires tinkering with many structures or creating alternative routes, which are not always viable solutions. And with each passing day, the number of cars in circulation increases, so we know that this will be a problem that will get bigger and bigger over time.
Because of this problem, I decided to take action and sold my car because it wasn't fulfilling my need to get around more quickly. I opted for the urban bus, but that brought another problem. Combined with the difficult traffic, the situation became even more chaotic. The buses are always overcrowded and, when you do manage to get on, you're squeezed for hours until you get home. Imagine working all day and then being punished by a packed bus, with journeys that should take 30 minutes taking over an hour!
I couldn't stand this daily torture any longer, so my girlfriend and I decided to move somewhere closer to my work. This basically solved all my traffic problems. We found a great place to live, very close to the center, and all the places I need to go are accessible on foot. Even if I need app-based transportation, the cost is low. I spend an average of 30 minutes walking to work. That's the way I've found to deal with the traffic problem.
The rent for the house I live in today is a little more expensive because it's in the city center, but there's a big compensation for that. What I save on transportation balances out the rent, and one of the benefits is not being stressed by traffic or tortured on a crowded bus. In general, this is the only problem I see in my city today, based on where I live. It may be that, in other areas, people face different problems to mine. But this was the way I found to deal with a problem that affected me a lot. Sometimes, due to a lack of good management and planning, the population ends up paying for it, or rather, they end up paying twice as much, because the tax doesn't stop being charged, even if you're dissatisfied with the infrastructure that the government provides.

Morar em uma cidade com boa infraestrutura é um verdadeiro privilégio. Eu moro em uma cidade assim, a maior da região e, apesar de seu tamanho, ela é bem administrada em comparação com outras cidades onde já morei ou visitei. Claro que ela possui alguns pontos negativos, dependendo da região, mas, de modo geral, é um ótimo lugar para viver. No entanto, por ser um centro comercial, muitas pessoas vêm para cá, o que acarreta alguns problemas que impactam na infraestrutura. Devido à falta de planejamento, o trânsito acaba sendo caótico.
É normal que em cidades grandes esse seja um problema "natural", mas não deixa de ser estressante. Acredito que as cidades de hoje em dia não foram planejadas para comportar tantos carros. Afinal, se as cidades surgiram em uma época em que existiam poucos carros, ou mesmo nenhum, seria difícil imaginar que isso se tornaria um problema no futuro. Esse é um problema sério, pois, para criar uma infraestrutura fluida, deveria ter sido feito no passado. Modificar isso nos dias atuais exige mexer em muitas estruturas ou criar caminhos alternativos, que nem sempre são soluções viáveis. E a cada dia que passa, o número de carros em circulação aumenta, então sabemos que esse será um problema que vai ficar cada vez maior com o decorrer do tempo.
Devido a esse problema, decidi tomar uma atitude e vendi meu carro porque não estava cumprindo a necessidade de me locomover mais rápido. Optei pelo ônibus urbano, mas isso trouxe outro problema. Combinado com a dificuldade do trânsito, a situação se tornou ainda mais caótica. Os ônibus estão sempre superlotados e, quando você consegue entrar, fica espremido por horas até chegar em casa. Imagine trabalhar o dia todo e, na hora de voltar para casa, ser castigado por um ônibus lotado, com percursos que deveriam durar 30 minutos demorando mais de uma hora!
Eu não aguentava mais essa tortura diária, então minha namorada e eu decidimos mudar para um lugar mais perto do meu trabalho. Isso basicamente resolveu todos os meus problemas relacionados ao trânsito. Encontramos um ótimo lugar para morar, bem perto do centro, e todos os lugares que preciso ir estão acessíveis a pé. Mesmo que eu precise de um transporte por aplicativo, o valor é baixo. Para ir ao trabalho, gasto em média 30 minutos andando tranquilamente. Essa foi a forma que encontrei para lidar com o problema do trânsito.
O aluguel da casa onde moro hoje é um pouco mais caro por ser no centro da cidade, mas existe uma grande compensação nisso. O que economizo com transporte equilibra o valor do aluguel, e um dos benefícios é não se estressar com o trânsito nem ser torturado dentro de um ônibus lotado. De modo geral, esse é o único problema que vejo hoje na minha cidade, baseado no local onde moro. Pode ser que, em outras áreas, as pessoas enfrentem problemas diferentes dos meus. Mas essa foi a forma que encontrei para lidar com um problema que me afetava muito. Às vezes, por falta de boa gestão e planejamento, a população acaba pagando por isso, ou melhor, acaba pagando dobrado, pois o imposto não deixa de ser cobrado, mesmo que você esteja insatisfeito com a infraestrutura que o governo proporciona.
