December will always be a very special month, because it's the time of year when my family gets together to celebrate the end-of-year festivities. Ever since I was little, things have been the same, and we get together to celebrate and see relatives who live far away. It's a time of great joy and newness; we share our achievements and funny stories, our pains and overcomes that we went through during the year, and we miss people who are really important.
The key to making all this happen is my grandparents. The whole family gets together at their house because many of them are on vacation, especially the children. I was always very happy when my cousins, who live in another city, came to spend the vacations at our grandmother's house. As I lived next door to her house for many years, I was always there. When my cousins arrived, we would play all the time and always invent some activity, as well as playing a lot of soccer. Even after many years, we still play a few games, and it will be like that until we're too old for it.
Along with my cousins came my uncles, and it's always great to see them again. I love my aunt and uncle very much, as they have always looked after me very well, and I have a very strong paternal love for them, as they were the ones who helped my mother with my education for a long time.
We still get together today, especially on holidays like Christmas and New Year. The day before the celebrations, we toast, drink a few beers and have that typical Brazilian barbecue. The days are hectic and lively, with lots of music, and conversations are drowned out by the sounds of laughter. We reminisce about past stories and listen to some of the uncles' jokes - after all, there's always that uncle who loves to tell jokes!
On the commemorative day, we have a nice lunch and share the table on these important dates. The special thing is that my mother is responsible for making the food, and she's an excellent cook! Wow, it's hard to stop eating so many good things made with a lot of love and care by my mom, who now lives far away from me.
Even after my grandfather died, we still carry on this tradition, and even if sometimes I can't make it the day before, at least at Christmas I'm there, as is the rest of the family. We don't let sad events take away this opportunity to get together with the family, because we still need this togetherness, and those of us who are children need this time to create good memories, carry on the tradition and remain united as one big family.
It's almost time for some cousins to start arriving at my grandmother's house, and I'm counting the days until I can go there too. At the end of December, I also celebrate my birthday, and that's another reason for us to get together and celebrate. This will always be a time of great joy for me. I spend the whole year away from a lot of my family, and I really miss that time. I'm very grateful to have a blessed family and that, even with some minor disagreements - which is normal - we look to something bigger, we look and make happen this tradition that lives in us!

Dezembro sempre será um mês muito especial, pois é a época do ano em que a minha família se reúne para comemorar as festas de final de ano. Desde pequeno, as coisas acontecem da mesma forma, e nos reunimos para comemorar e rever parentes que moram distantes. É tempo de muita alegria e de novidades; compartilhamos nossas conquistas e histórias engraçadas, nossas dores e superações que passamos durante o ano, e matamos a saudade de pessoas que são realmente importantes.
A peça-chave para que tudo isso aconteça são meus avós. A família toda se reúne em sua casa, pois muitos estão de férias, principalmente as crianças. Eu sempre fiquei muito feliz quando meus primos, que moram em outra cidade, vinham passar as férias na casa da nossa vó. Como morei por muitos anos ao lado da casa dela, eu já estava sempre lá. Quando meus primos chegavam, ficávamos brincando o tempo todo e sempre inventando alguma atividade, além de jogarmos muito futebol. Mesmo depois de muitos anos, ainda jogamos algumas partidas, e isso será dessa forma até que fiquemos velhos demais para isso.
Junto com meus primos, também vinham meus tios, e é sempre muito bom revê-los. Eu amo muito os meus tios, pois sempre cuidaram muito bem de mim, e tenho um amor paterno por eles muito forte, pois foram eles que ajudaram a minha mãe na minha educação por muito tempo.
Ainda hoje nos reunimos, principalmente nos dias de festa como o Natal e o Ano Novo. Um dia antes das datas comemorativas, brindamos, tomamos algumas cervejas e fazemos aquele churrasco bem típico dos brasileiros. Os dias são agitados e animados, com muita música, e as conversas ficam abafadas pelos sons de gargalhadas. Relembramos algumas histórias passadas e escutamos algumas piadas dos tios, afinal, sempre tem aquele tio que adora contar umas piadas!
No dia comemorativo, fazemos um almoço bem legal e dividimos a mesa nessas datas importantes. O detalhe é que a minha mãe é a responsável por fazer a comida, e ela é uma excelente cozinheira! Uau, é difícil parar de comer com tantas coisas boas e feitas com muito carinho e capricho pela minha mãezinha, que agora mora longe de mim.
Mesmo depois que meu avô morreu, ainda continuamos com essa tradição, e mesmo que algumas vezes eu não consiga ir dias antes, ao menos no Natal eu estou presente, assim como todo o resto da família. Não deixamos que acontecimentos tristes tirem essa oportunidade de nos reunir com a família, pois ainda precisamos dessa união, e aqueles que são crianças precisam desse momento para criar boas lembranças, carregar a tradição adiante e continuarem unidos como uma grande família.
Já está quase na época de alguns primos começarem a chegar na casa da minha vó, e estou contando os dias para poder ir para lá também. No final de Dezembro, também comemoro meu aniversário, e esse também é outro motivo para que possamos nos reunir e celebrar. Esse sempre será um momento de muita alegria para mim. Passo o ano inteiro afastado de boa parte da minha família, e estou com muitas saudades desse período. Sou muito grato por ter uma família abençoada e que, mesmo com algumas pequenas desavenças - o que é normal -, olhamos para algo maior, olhamos e fazemos acontecer essa tradição que vive em nós!
