Polygamy: What is your thought and how is it viewed in your country:

Yesterday while going with my mom to the market, I saw people hailing a Man for wanting to take a 4th wife, they were hailing him for being a great man. While others including some of those who were hailing him were also mocking him but not to his hearing.

"This man has taken three wives already and now he's about to take the fourth one, What a shame!"

"He's going to have a lot of problems in his family because there'll be lots of disputes and disagreement "

"Jealousy between the wives won't let them live peacefully "

"Since the man has money, everything will be under control"

"He has the right to decide what to do, But I tell you this is a wrong choice 😂"

The above and more are what people were saying about the man in the bus. Which of them suits your opinion?

Views about polygamy varies on individual level, country and culture.
Personally I won't give any standard of right and wrong, but I'll provide a general information.

Polygamy is the practice of having two or more spouses. This practice is viewed differently around the world. In some countries, and cultures, it is socially and legally accepted while other countries consider it a taboo.

The views about polygamy can be influenced by religious, cultural and legal factors in each country. For example in some Muslim countries polygamy is legal and culturally accepted but with certain conditions and limitations. But in western countries it has been outlawed and considered bigamy.

Public opinion on polygamy can vary within a country. Some may support polygamy for cultural or religious reasons, while others may not support it due to concerns on gender equality, family dynamics or complications.

In Nigeria not many accept polygamy anymore, though the muslims in the country still practice it, however in the past many engaged in it, even my father had two wives of which my mom is the second.

So tell me, what is your thought about polygamy, and how is it viewed in your country?
