FOLLOWING SIMPLE INSTRUCTION

One of the things I find so hard to engage in is contest (physical contest) but whenever I do, I always end up feeling grateful and fulfilled that I did partook in them because I also learn something new from it. I've partook in so many contests here on the hive blockchain since when I joined but then before hive, I hardly ever got the chance to get into so many contests physically because I guess I was scared of not doing well at it.

As you all know I love singing and it's even in my goal to achieve a dreem space of music lovers. Before I got into hive, I belonged to an Acapella singing group and we usually go to different competitions and concerts to touch lives with our singing. Now we are no longer together because we all reside in different locations unlike before.

Before the group became dormant, we went for a music contest where so many other music lovers came as well. It took us close to month to rehearse all the songs we planned presenting on that day and we all put in our best but then our major goal was not just for the prize alone but for us to be able to touch the lives of so many people that would attend the contest if not all.

It was the D-Day already and we were both excited and anxious at the same time. That wasn't our first though but we just never get use to that feeling I guess. Our music coordinator was going to join us on stage and guess what, this guy loves music so much especially when he sees that people loves what they are hearing. The event started and every group present were given were to sit down so they can be together.

The first group was called out to make their presentation and they were so good and that added to our anxiousness, lol. They actually sang one of the songs we also had to present that day. At first we thought of not singing that song again but then we knew ours' was different from theirs so we had to still retain that song. After they finished singing, another group came out to make their presentation before my group went out.

We had three songs in mind to present but then we were warned about the time and the three songs in total will take close to 12 minutes and we had just 10 minutes. We tried asking our music coordinator that we should present just two songs but then he refused and we had to sing all 3 songs. We were the best singing group but then we didn't keep to time and that made us loss some points.

When the results came out, we came in third place out of 5 which was really poor. We were a bit sad because our coordinator refused to listen to us. After the event, we asked him why he did that but then he was just feeling sorry to us. He actually said he had to ask us to continue because he saw that people were enjoying our performance and since we rehearsed those songs for the event and the people, he wanted us to just make it worthwhile.

He obviously had good intentions but then we had to bare the consequences for it. But then we got so many accolades from different people on that day, they actually enjoyed our singing (we achieved our major goal) but then we didn't obey the rule of the contest. If there was one lesson I learned from that experience, it would be, learning how to follow simple instructions. Whenever there is a guideline for something, we should always do well to follow it so we don't suffer the consequences later.

Well, in the end we learned our lesson as a group and I also learned a lesson personally from that experience too. That was the last contest I've attended offline and it took place 4 years ago! That's a really long time and since then I've not gotten into any contest offline but I've joined so many online contests and now I'm already use to it because I hardly get to win anyone, I just learn from them.

That's all for my "LAST CONTEST" A topic suggested in the community. Until next time, stay AWESOME and JIGGY!!!
