MY PERSPECTIVE ON SUGAR INTAKE

my picture snapped with phone

This is a wonderful theme for this edition. Since I was a teenager that was when I started hearing the statement " too much of sugar is bad". This is a debatable phrase which depends on the side of the coin because it can't be generalised. Our body build up differs hence it won't be ok to draw an inference on the subject of sugar intake. There are so many factors to be considered but for the sake of this post, I intend to share my perspective on this. What are the benefits of sugar? Does it have any negative effects?how do you control the sugar intake? Do I have any replacement for sugar? What's my reaction to drinks that don't have sugar? These and many more questions are what I hope to share if time and space permits. Welcome to the second day of the new month of August and I hope you will enjoy this timely entry.

Right from my elementary science, my teacher taught me that cereals infact carbohydrates contains sugar. Apparently in Africa most of the things we eat contains carbohydrates either in small or high amount hence virtually everything has sugar then....hahahaha not proven any way but that's my personal assertion oooooo. Can I ask? Who doesn't like sugar at all or who has never taken sugar before? I think you may drop it at the comment section. As a child, I never believed that most of the food we eat contains sugar directly or indirectly perhaps as glucose, sucrose or fructose etc as long as there "Ose" that means there's an element of sugar. Sugar is good and has some benefits like stores energy, makes an individual happy etc but when it's not moderated hmmm it could result to some complications.

Is too much of sugar bad?

Sugar is not bad but it becomes bad when there's no any control measures deployed. When you consume too much of sugar it has lots of health implications.

  • It can make you loose weight. I know it may sound argumentative. She you consume sugary beverages it wouldn't curb your hunger rather it would cause more complications. Sugary drinks is associated with lose of weight. It could also increase the rate of type 2 diabetes. The medical personnel would explain better.
  • Too much sugar can increase rate of heart diseases. It can increase pressure of the heart and even obesity as well. There is a young man I met just four months ago, he like to eat some of these sugary substances as well as sugary drinks. Hmmmm after a while, I barely recognised him again. After a thorough discussion, he opened up and told me that he eats chocolate and other sugary substances a lot that's why he was so fat heading towards obesity. The last two weeks we met, he slimed to his normal structure because he has stopped eating too much of such things.
  • Too much sugar could cause skin aging process with some wrinkles. Too much sugar could increase the risk of depression. Any diet that is rich in added sugar and other Ultra processed food have the tendency to cause depression.

How to control sugar intake.

There are things that we can do to control too much intake of sugar.

  • Avoid too much intake of processed food like snacks, nuts etc.
  • Avoid sauces that contains too much sugar like spaghetti, macaroni.
  • You can deliberately cut back from sugary drinks.
  • You could avoid sugary desserts
  • Take balance diet.
  • Have time to sleep enough it would also help.
  • Engage in exercise or recreational activities to boost the body system.

What I take to replace sugar.

My alternative to sugar is actually honey even though the price is on the high side now. At times I go for sugar cane, date nuts etc. These are natural sugar that doesn't side effects on human health.

CONCLUSION

I don't take drinks anyhow especially the ones that have high sugar content.

Thanks for visiting my blog and all comments appreciated.
